View Full Version : What? ... Why?..

Ok, So here it goes.... Get ready to read...
We have an '05 FXT. Got it used with 46k miles. No mods at all. By 48k the turbo went and took parts of the motor with it. It was still under SOA's 5 year, 60k warranty. Got a new turbo, and some new internals on the motor. Can't complain too much because this thing should now last forever, yeah?
Now. Everything's running great, nothing bad about the car we can see....
Except now there's no cool air? A/C works great... heat works great, yet if you turn the dial down to the blue side, it stays hot. Like, it doesn't even pretend to get cooler...its just, on. Hot.
I refuse to go back to this RI dealer, their service department has pissed me off too many times. This happened back in July so she was using the A/C every time she got in it and we didn't notice until October. Anyone have any ideas? Is it something that should be easy enough to rectify on my own?
Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a bad wire in there somewhere or if the 05 XT's ran a mechanical switch system on the AC controls you could just have something not turning all the way. If it's still under warenty then bring it to any Subi dealer. I might suggest Exeter or Manchester if you happen to be up here at the time. If either shoot PMs to people about it ahead of time. SHTBRX22 works at Manchester and Murphy2012(though you can PM dirrecly Service@ExeterSubaru) works at Exeter Subaru.

do you have the circulation vent open or closed and most people haveit closed when they use the a/c and have it open for the rest of the time

I agree with seraphinwolf. Sounds to me like something is disconnected that controls the heat and cold.

for the circ vent, i close it for ac/skunks and open it for fresh air/heat... its definitely nothing to do with that, ive tried different combo's and same thing, mad hot unless its on a/c...
i guess we will have to bring it in for the disconnected wire? no other problems anyone can come up with?
maybe i will just search for a wirinbg diagram and plug setup...but it has to be something under the hood since they had no reason to be under the dash?
thanks for the possible answers guys

The most common reason for cold air all the time would be low coolant. If its not that, check fuse box, and then open the panel up and do a visual check on wires/connectors. Also, connectors dont just come off and wires dont get cut, have you done anything recently that you can relate this too?

sounds like a mixing door problem. bring it here. ;) may involve some sneaking in around the left side of the heater box under the dash to see if the door is closing all the way. do you have auto A/C or manual?

Its actually hot all the time, until you turn the A/C on...

Nothing at all.

HA, no. Not unless we have to.

Don't know what you mean about auto or manual a/c.. its an 05 with a dial for temp, and the button for turning on a/c.. so im guessing auto?
thanks again for ideas, sorry i havent been updating, kinda busy...
