There was no link for the product description. Forge has a variety of BOV's FS, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to know it was recirc.

Ok...

so I mounted the STi catback and it doesn't seem to fit right with the COBB DP.

The center hanger for the CBE is fully extended forward and the seal for the DP/CBE is not completely taught.

It probably has a small leak, and I need a sticker sooooon :unamused:

I heard some talk of an extender.... any ideas?

They're all pretty much the same. Some have additional channels and inputs and such but the meat and potatoes are all the same. As long as you take your time with the pre-wiring, install "usually" goes pretty smooth. I don't mind people watching/assisting whatever just so's you know I'm pretty quiet when I work. Get in, do it once, do it right, get out in a timely manner is the way I work.;)

You are better off trading in for the STi when you get back. I know you wanted to trade in anyways. Parts and labor would make is WAY cheaper to get the STi due to added cost of the new chassis.

So in my quest to fianlly dig to the bottom of the engine build I found out some things I really didn't want to hear.

It was my understanding from the beginning that the car was built with the stg3 Crower kit.


Well..... it wasn't

It was built with JDM STI version 7 STi forged pistons and stock cam and exhaust shafts....

The only crower stuff is the Brian Crower Chrome silicone alloy valve springs and Brian Crower Titanium valve spring retainers.

It DID however get Cosworth bearings :)


The good news is that the motor was completely rebuilt and all new parts were used including water/oil pump gaskets, belts and even most the bolts.


I've been trying to do some research on the JDM Ver7 STi forged pistions and only found that they are SUPER expensive and way stronger than the OEM ones.

the jdm innards doesnt necessarily sound like its all that bad. its always tough to buy something.. then find out its not quite what it was claimed to be. if it makes you feel any better... its still a damn nice car and pretty inspirational to us kids :lol: :up:

From my research it appears that in order to put the ver 7 pistons in they have to bore it out, so technically its not an EJ205 anymore and now its an EJ207.

From what I've read the pistons are really strond and matched with crawford/crower tidbits its actually a pretty strong build.

Why the previous owner spent more on the JDM pistons (I hear they are $1500+) and didn't go with a standard aftermarket forged pistons is beyond me :confused:

On a side note, if I was to put in a ver 7 sti 5spd tranny I would have a complete ver7 swap :)

Thinking I might go that route with RA 1-4 gears.

I can't remember if I need to do the rear end or not.... I'd like to do a 6speed but I think it's way out of my budget.

I think for now I'm gonna sort out the boost issue and if its only a BCS I might have a evo3, injectors and whisper back in my future.

Don't think my tranny will last long after that though :lol: something tells me I'm already on borrowed time...

no, VER7 are very similar to 2006/2007 USDM brakes. The main difference is there is a bleeder on the side of the caliper :lol:

I thought you had a built 205 not a built 207. Glad to hear that. I unfortunately can't think of much that'll fit a 207 that isn't another OEM fitment turbo. So a VF series turbo but which one? I presume you are matching the GTspec header with a GTspec uppipe.
