I'll see what I can do. I was actually supposed to be getting back from a week-long Blackberry training in Boston on the 12th, which would have definitely put a damper on this for me. But I just found out today it's been cancelled. :unamused:

So, this would be a nice pick-me-up.

Pros:
*weekend, I wont be all uncomfortably greasy from work. Yes, I am "The" Hawaiian Tropic Lube boy.
*I'll be stir crazy by then and I'll have to get out.
*Wife wants to try that place anyways.
*Scooby peoples united.

Cons:
*Wife doesn't like groups of people.
*I've already planned an activity for me and the boys that day. If its above 23 degrees we're going to NH.
*I possibly could have a crappy paycheck and not have the funds to go out.

Awesome guys! I will be calling them today and letting them know to expect us!

Joe
01-31-2010, 02:02 PM
Okay guys, I just talked to the owner and he would prefer a 2pm arrival for us. The good thing, is that at that time we will have access to the downstairs area so we can all sit together, eat together, and have access to some pool tables. All this at NO charge to us! So I adjusted the time on the front page and I hope this still works for everyone. He also said we could have use of that room til about 4pm, then he has to set up for an event.

inski's thoughts on the 80s:
- mini skirts and short shorts with butt cheeks bustin out from under them.
- guys wore jeans pulled up OVER their ass.
- lots of cleavage, no bras.
- every rock song was about sex.
- cars were horrible, except my Brat.

haha, I'm sorry, I just thought it was funny that they are holding it. I can't imagine all these 20, 30 and 40 year olds walking in in tuxes and prom dresses! LMMFAO!

[sidenote since ya'll locked the other thread: Gabe and I tried the Waterville place I mentioned, and it was soooo good. I got angel hair pasta eggplant parmasan for $10.99, and ate a bit there, the leftovers were enough for 2 more servings after that. Gabe got the spaghetti and meatballs in meatsauce for $8.99. We had a huge slice of cheesecake with strawberry sauce for $4.99. They brought out bread and a garlic and seasoned oil. The atmosphere was great, and parking would be cool there. I feel weird talking about this in here, but wanted to let you all know about Cacciatori's Italian Steakhouse.]

I"m in the process of doing everything I can to make this. After work yesterday morning I went to the gym. Leaving the gym car was fine. Get to destination one.... powersteering is acting iffy.... MORE iffy on the drive home with stopping and picking up Lucas PS stop leak to at least top of the resevoir. Worse and worse whole way home. Too tired from 12hr shift plus work I got to sleep and plan to get at it.
Wake up later and procrastinate too long but finally get everything jacked up and get under the car and such at like midnight. Can't isolate the leak. Top off and let it set just incase it needed to sit longer. Few hours later put sheet of cardboard under it to see where it's starting. Fire up the car and turn the wheel a few times. Turn off and check. Soft line crimp.... :unamused: It be bubbling out of it. Warming myself back up. I'll go back out and try to seal it off temp to at least catch a ride the rest of the way.

Gaddis is hitching a ride with Jess and I. We're trying to decide which Suby to take; if we take the STi then it'll be a funner ride up there but the people in the back will have to tend with a harness bar. Or take the LGT and have a comfy ride up with less fun. Decisions, decisions.:)

ohhhh wassss itttt?

It was fine. The meet (not meat) was the best part. I can't believe they put ONE new girl to handle all of us! That was truly obsurd. The cooks weren't on the ball (including someone asking for a hotdog with no bun, they saw it- PUT the hotdog on the bun, it was returned to them- THEY TOOK THE BUN AWAY AND BROUGHT IT RIGHT BACK DOWNSTAIRS!
The Owner said the cooks were lazy today... obviously.

Thanks Kati for taking care of us at the table! I think we should've given you the gratuity, not the waitress, haha. The food was sub-par, or at least I thought so. Pulled pork was dry and my beer tasted like the sponge you find under the kitchen sink, lol. Food aside, you folks are always awesome and it's always a pleasure to hang out with such a good croud. Oh, and thank you Gabe for bringing your knobs for Jess to choose from, but I think I should've gotten the i-trader since I had to buy it. LOL!

did you finally get the shift knob on axis?

Kati
02-14-2010, 08:06 PM
I'm not surprised that there weren't any photos taken of the upper end where our car was (I'm not being mean- LOL), it always happens that way. Sometimes I'd see someone snapping like a million photos of our car, yet none surface the web. I am beginning to think that when pictures are taken of it, it disappears, LOL.

I loved our company at our table, and it was so good to see everyone else. I don't know why we all didn't mingle more- or play pool, I mean TWO pool tables sat there all alone... how weird. They even have RockBand and stuff and no one took advantage of it.

Urabus I am so sorry things were messed up on your end, they weren't very smooth on ours either. Like I said, they blamed everything on the cooks that didn't want to be there.

Jess your hair was super cute! And had we not had to run out of state, I would have totally went over there with you and given you a tour. They even have a Dooney and Burke outlet with super cheap clearanced bags (I don't particularly like their bags, but it's still fun to go in there). I've only been to Freeport 2 or 3 times ever.

Axis and Jess, thanks for the kind words. I just hate when we dump money into a not-so-cheap establishment, and don't get A+ service.

I read that Gaddis' stomach got upset. I'm grateful to feel just fine after finally eating my meal. The woman holding it kept calling it "pulled pork" and I told her I had "brisket" and she kept saying "it looks like pulled pork", she probably said that while holding it in her hands for 4 minutes while I kept telling her it was my plate, then she SCREAMS out, "I have a BEEF BRISKET!!" NO ****! I told her that like 87 times that that's what it was, and that it was mine, duhhhhhh.

Well, I showed up too, didn't stay though :unamused:. After getting turned around, I finally found the place and got there at about 2:10, went inside , and the hostess directed me downstairs. There were probably 16 or so people engrossed in conversation, not knowing a soul, and not seeing anyone welcoming NEW attendees. (silly me), I walked over to a group of people talking and barely got anyone to make eye contact, let alone ask if they could help, or welcome NEW attendees and make introductions, don't know if maybe you thought I was the janitor or something, being the oldest one there at the time.:iam: So I left. Being new to one of these meets, I'm sure being early and seeing people in the parking lot first might have made a difference. I would like to think age wouldn't matter, (a Suby enthusiast is a Suby enthusiast at any age) Maybe I'll try again at a location a little closer. But, I would like to offer some advice, (unasked for, but here goes) If these meets are truly open to all, (regulars and new members) may I suggest having a table near where people will be entering, and have a greeter, to represent the club, and make introductions. That way, anyone, young, old, a regular, or a first time attendee will feel welcome and not like a third wheel.;)

That's a bummer, sorry noone asked if you were a Suby owner. Sometimes it helps to have something like a hat or hoodie or shirt that says Subaru on it. We don't discriminate by any means. Everyone and everyone is always welcome. Hope to see you at the next meet Buck.

I haven't given up hope, like I said, I will try again, hopefully someplace a little closer (Waterville/Augusta area would be nice). It wasn't really a wasted trip either, it was a great day for a highway cruise in the Baja, as my work weeks usually consist of many short trips to client sites. I still think a greeter representing the club would be a much more welcoming touch. And as for old, well, I probably take the cake at 50 +, you have to grow old, but you don't have to grow up
