Can you use a stock clutch with a light weight flywheel? If so what are the disadvantages?

ILL INFORM YOU NOW I GOT THE ACT STREETLIGHT FLYWHEEL WITH A EXEDY STAGE 1 CLUTCH PLATE FEELS GREAT QUICK REVS. BUT BE PREPAIRED TO SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON EVERYONCE AND A WHILE BECAUSE THE FLY WHEEL CAUSES A MISSFIRE CODE TO POP. I WOULD SAY IF YOUR GOING TO TAKE THE TRANS OFF TO DO THE FLY WHEEL YOU MIGHT AS WELL TO THE PLATE TOO.

No. I had one on my car once (the stp lwfl, organic clutch and plate) but burt it up after 3 months. I went back to stock but I would like to put a lwfl in again if i can get a clutch that will last longer. Apparently stop and go driving on the general sullivan every morning wasn't good for it.

I don't like light weight flywheels for the street at all.

you can use stock clutch/pressure plate with light flywheel, but you still have the weak clamping force. +1 to the occasional misfire. if you care, get a slightly lighter weight than stock. a co-worker of mine put a stock clutch/pressure plate with a light flywheel, and the only disadvantage that he noted was that it's easier to stall (less momentum) and the revs rise and fall a little faster. I'll stay stock. ;)
