so i jacked up the car to check for bad bushings earlier today and now when i am driving around there is speed dependent whining coming from the rear end. im hoping this is not from the dif. but any other possible causes.

ok so it is loudest between 50 and 60 and is all most unnoticeable at 70. im hoping for a wheel bearing. i couldn't get the plug out of the diff to check the fluid.

Is a central noise or coming from one side?

seems to be central but it is a lot louder in the drivers seat. after the commute back to orono from portland i checked to see if the dif was on fire and it seemed normally warm. so wheel bearing is becoming more likely thank god.
