So i just wanted to ask what kind of sways do you guys run on your cars as far as what size sways you put in you front and rear and some notes on how your car feels now. This is my next upgrade so i want to get an idea of what kind of set-up's you guys have?

what are your plans for the car?

Auto-x? street?

Sway bars are one of the better "bang for buck" mods that you can do. Coupled with a good spring/strut setup it can make the car handle great. The front helps reduce understeer while the rear helps add some oversteer. Overall the car will feel more 'planted'.

I ran a 21mm front and 22mm adjustable rear (both cusco) on my old impreza. It was a nice combination but would have wanted a larger front bar for auto-x

GF currently has 22mm front (rallitek) and 22mm adjustable rear (whiteline). The whiteline is very rusted and doesn't like new england winters, but the ralitek is in great shape. Car handles well but haven't run in an autox. We unhook the rear (or leave it on it's softest setting) for winter/snow driving.

I WANT MORE OVERSTEER. I DO HAVE WISHES TO DO AUTO-X NEXT SUMMER.

Right now i have:
Tokiko adjustable struts
tien s-tech (which i am prolly changing to tanabe)

was thinking 22mm front
24mm adjustable for rear

Participate in an AutoX/EVO school. You will learn so much more than just relying on the equipment you run. Weight transfer, braking and learning lines makes one a faster driver.

There was once a guy who took a day long driving course, and was 4 seconds faster in his stock WRX wagon than many modified subies on the course.

there's a whole forum on here for autox :)

21/22mm adjustable are your best bet!

I've got Rallitek 22mm Front/22-24mm Rear Adjustable. Unless you're buying them as a kit I'd recommend getting the rear in first and see how you like it. It'll definitely give you oversteer. Coupled with Tokico D-specs/RCE yellows it feels awesome.

after riding with mike in a few auto-x's i would have to agree that his setup is freakin awesome.

also, if your not going to race or beat the crap outta it, just do a rear.

Whiteline adjustable 24mm F, 22mm R on my GR. Front is on soft and rear is on medium until I can get coilovers. In fixing the handling the car really needs a much higher spring rate, and maxing out the stiffness on the sways is far from ideal on stock springs.

I have 25mm front and rear. solid front, hollow adjustable rear on full stiff, and it has just a touch of oversteer. (just my preference)

A touch of oversteer is what i like. I have driven rear wheel cars before. Driving on the edge with understeer will make you slow. Driving balanced or a tap of oversteer will make the world, thats all I am saying. I am just trying to gauge where everybodys at as far as setups so I dont have to buy swaybars six times till I find a setup I like. Thank you too all for responding, its been very helpful

agreed....understeer makes me **** my pants. slight oversteer just feels natural. (first car RWD, go figure)

haha that's totally opposite of most people but I love it.

yeah I will second what most people have said in here about slightly stiffer in the rear for auto-x, makes rotation a bit easier, not like drifting, but you know :P

No I agree with Eric.... The other Eric.... understeer means you've lots control with your front which means you are pretty much gonna just have to let it happen. Oversteer you have more chance to correct and pull out of it. A FWD may HOLD the line longer before loosing it than a RWD but a RWD can come back or even use it to their advantage. I"d rather be able to fight for a chance rather than hope my standings with the big guy are good at that moment. :o If ya know what I mean. Still a equal balance on a daily basis is nice. That's why I love adjustable components. You can 1. Set it to YOU. Not how someone else might like it or works for them but YOU. 2. You can always change the settings for the track or for different seasons as the need may or may not apply.

I hate understeer for the simple fact it's like turning, with no reaction. (plowing) no thanks.

yepp

the evo X is so much more neutral with a hint of rotation (stock) compared to my old 04 sti. It is amazing, and SO much nice and more controllable

Speaking of sways, does anyone know if the RalliTEK "street spec" sway bar kit with endlinks that is available for the 08-09 models will also fit the 2010 model? I would assume it does but that is why I am asking. Thanks!

Yes it should. We just put the track spec kit from my cousins 10 wrx in his 11 sti the other weekend

I have an 08 Legacy 2.5i with stock struts and springs (haven't put in my Koni/epic springs yet) and I put in a Whiteline 20mm RSB. Night and day difference. It felt awful (I'm used to a full suspension on an 02 WRX) and the RSB made it feel A LOT better in the corners and the highway.
