I wanted to share this as the outcome was interesting. An enthusiast had sent me his self-tuned rom and logs along with a road dyno sheet recently that was thoroughly tuned, and well thought out. His map looked great but just not my style. He said it was maxed out - I disagreed.
I made a very quick comment to him to try a different timing curve, take OUT 1.5 pounds of boost, and add a little fuel. He did exactly what I said.
Results below done same day same temp same road.:spin: Less heat, less stress on the turbo, more consistency, lower EGT according to him, and MORE power. This was done on his FIRST try, I'd say there is even more (safely) in it.

Nice!!
I think it's a general misconception that more boost = more power

Absolutely, there is a fine line of balance between boost/fuel/timing/cam timing/etc etc with each setup. The car picked up torque everywhere even though it was 1.5lbs less boost, but had far better fueling/timing for his mods.

I can't tell you how many self tuning horror stories i've heard
A lot of people try to save a buck by getting a tactrix cable and laptop.... it can end badly especially when they modify the OTS maps that are floating around on the internets.

So you are saying I should NOT just add an MBC and crank it up to get more power??

update: 318whp and climbing, even less boost. Stock TMIC is killing it here.
