View Full Version : So...I kinda want to burn town Fair Tire to the ground...who's down?
So yeah there I was after saving $$ for 3 weeks I stroll in to town fair tire looking to pick up my new set of 4 Goodride SW601 snow treads and what is this?! they sold my ****ing tires!!! Mind you I put a deposit down on said tires and it was even noted that I would be in to get them in a few weeks!
The manager had nothing to say or offer me and basically brushed me off like he didn't give a ****! So me now having a frost knot on one of my tires and looks like it is going to burst.....so I drive around to a bunch of tire places all of which either have ****ty prices or no snow treads in my size....
On another side of the coin i found the exact tires I was going to get online for about $15 less PER TIRE!!! do even with shipping it is less than town fair and I'll just have a local used tire place I always went to mount and balance...I already got my 4 wheel alignment from town fair for $50 which was supposed to b under the condition I bought the tires there so I WIN w00t.....still though I kinda want to burn it down haha

Not the first story of them ****ing someone I have heard. Also not the last. Kind of like a guy I know having to go back 8 times to get his tires to stop vibrating on the highway after the install.

can't knock them yo... They bring the girls to car shows and the 30's with the spinner
nah i am just messing with ya dude.
That sucks though i mean me being the kinda guy where if you **** with me your gonna get it right back 10x. I would probably have went to jail on that . But hey someone would be on the ground in a bloody pulp and it'll teach them for not ****ing with their customers like that
Yeah, that's pretty crappy right there. Their customer service skills are lacking lots and I really don't trust the "mechanics" as far as I can throw them. The only reason I even bother going there is because I have friends at two locations that are assistant managers and I can usually get great deals...sometimes.
I ended up buying my tires on tirerack.com and then had TFT mount/balance them and do a 4 wheel alignment for $79 so I didn't see it as a bad deal.
Sorry you you got porked on the deal, though. That just sucks.

My experience was fun when I last went. I literally was in the shop arguing with TFT's best tech about front end alignment. Eventually he listened to me for a second when I said. Fine you are right but do me a favor and remove this nut. Just to humor me. He did and I showed him the oblong hold for adjusting front camber and then he shut his ga damn mouth after I asked him why Subaru would make this hole oblong if it didn't adjust.

Tirerack indeed!
I got my tires from buywheelstoday.com...really good prices and cheap shippin, then I am off to the local used tire palce Ryda Tire to have them mounted and balance...probably will cost me about $32 and I will be set for the winter.....this used tire place is awesome they are basically a public service because their prices are so dirt cheap I don't see how it is posible that they really make any $$ from their sales lol

Pete's Tire Barn in Providence.
I cant really say what I paid for my tires because I think they gave me a killer deal since my father delivers mail there.
I will say it was cheap. Like "Are you joking?" cheap.
I'd go there again in a heartbeat.
They used a torque stick and didnt over inflate my tires like so many places will do.
They usually do big trucks but will do cars as well.
Too bad you already bought those tires.
yeah I got mine for a good deal though...the last ones I posted about though...sold out...that happened like 3 times before i finally get some tires! I got mine from buywheelstoday.com i got some kumho solus k25 tires...they are alright a bit of a flexy sidewall imo though...next winter i am going to stretch some 195/60r16 blizzaks onto my RS rims $81 on tirerack.com :D

Thats strange, I had excellent luck at the Town Fair Tire near North Providence (off Douglas Ave).
We blew out a discontinued tire on a pot hole and they were able to order one from Cooper Tire direct; they actually ordered 2 to have an extra on hand. I also got New Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's, mounted, balanced, and custom alignment for about $50 off the standard price.
I always go through Trevor who has an 09 WRX sedan. I just shoot the **** and talk cars with him...and get deals

I know I'm a bit late on this, but am definitely interested in which store did this to you. I work for Town Fair Tires corporate office in East Haven CT and would like to address this.
I don't want to come to there immediate defence, but there are some things that go on at every store.
1) The salesman who sold them though he could get another set before you came in.
2) A different salesman probably sold them to another customer who wanted snow tires then and there and just never told the original salesman.
3) There's always the possibility that they were stolen.
I'm sure you don't need them now, but if there is anything I can do to assist you and anyone else who may have had a problem at a Town Fair Tire PM me and I will do my best to make up for you're misfortune.
I'm no big shot as I'm the Senior Wheel Tech, but I've been there for 15yrs and have plenty of pull.

i recently ordered a set of general altimax arctics from the store over in newington. spent about a half hour on the phone with the guy as he looked up to find out whether they had stock in icebears, ipikes, arctics, etc.
Confirmed more than a few times was available in my size (225 or 215/45/17). Booked my appointment. I called in an hour before I was supposed to come pick them up (truck was coming in at 2pm), and when he heard that I didn't want to buy new valve stems & wasn't planning on having them mounted & balanced at there location, all of a sudden my tires were no longer available.
Can't say I know what really happened, but I was in contact with them 3-4 times and had it all confirmed. I would assume they sold them to someone else wanting snow tires.
Ended up getting ipikes at murphy's dad's place.

That def sucks. Did you get the salesman's name? Because there are so many salesmen without a name I can not address it, and since you already bought a different set I guess I can't offer you anything either.
I wil address the Store Manager and make sure he informs his guys a sale is a sale, install or no install. I find it odd they wouldn't want to sell the tires regardless of install or not, but I can't tell you what happened either.
Sorry for your trouble
