I just picked my winter beater.
does anybody know how easy it is, or if it is even worth swaping auto to manual? the car is a 97 impreza outback.

Ya maybe we should just leave it be. Do you know the motor size? Is it an impreza or a legacy?

it's a 2.2 impreza.

4eat is a 90/10 split. :( Once you get enough momentum it'll spin in place like it's high centered but just isn't the same as a manual cause you'll need space to get a loop going to bring in. What color? Mine's white and grey.
You'll need trans, clutch, booster, pedal, 5 speed drive shaft(unless you are goign with the 6 speed), and if you are using something other than a manual that matches with a 4.11 rear diff you'll need to swap that out too. Oh and if doing a R180 you'd have to swap rear hubs unless you have custom in between CV shafts.
I"m going to a 6 speed personally with a JDM V7 R180.

Oh and you could always do a Spec B. 6 speed and keep the 5x100.
So many tiny things here and there. you can use the 4eat CV shafts with a STi 6 speed.
