looking for a good shop in the area who can do a wheel bearing and not bend me over to do it. Needs to be done in the 96, I believe it's only the rear passenger side.

If it's the same bearing as the 2004 legacy I have one for $20 picked up.

I meant to have the work done at a shop, I didn't mean buying the bearing itself. I've never done a wheel bearing before and from the things i've heard you can't really do them on your own.

If you don't want to get bent over, just take the hub out yourself and take to a machine shop to have them press old out and new in. Only thing on the rear is you may not be able to get the BAB out, then you would have problems.

This. The press is the only part you'd need help with.

Big Ass Bolt, it holds the suspension links to the hub. It's a ***** to get out sometimes, breaks other times. They are like $30 a piece from the dealer, there is one per side.

I had mine done by a guy named CJ, he runs a shop called CJ's auto repair in shutesbury. His labor was very reasonably priced, but he isn't that close to you.
I've also heard good things about a shop called ray's in hadley I believe.

I've had good experience with Green River Auto in Greenfield as well. He does a lot of Subaru work and he's very fair with his pricing.

alot of the shops like my dads have a press called the hubtamer. which does it on the car so there's no broken bab. being a 96 in NE it mostlikly will break. save the headache have a shop do call around find a shop that works flat rate what the book says it take is what you get charged even if it takes longer.
