View Full Version : Rotors and Drums ????
Wow,
So I'm doing a job on my 2005 WRX and I was so excited to get a car that has disc brakes in the rear! I'm so used to having to do drums on all of my other cars. Then I removed the rear rotor to do the brake job and,....what's with the drums?
I was so disappointed. :( Double the work in the rears - I just can't seem to escape the drum disease no matter what car I buy. :unamused:

that's your ebrake ;)
that's your ebrake ;)
yeah I know - which is even more disappointing to me seeing as how I wanted to be able to skid the rears in a brake maneuver without having to mess with the brake bias - i don't think drums are strong enough to do that so I was hoping to be able to control the rear discs with my ebrake lever - oh well:(

OIC.
You shouldn't have to change out the ebrake shoes, really ever.

You got to be careful doing that too, since you will lock the fronts at the same time usually.

Yeah but I think that the knuckle head who owned the car before me used the ebrake while driving (probably trying to powerslide) cause when I looked at them they were pretty worn down - and I have to pull the ebrake real high to get it to hold the car -
so a changin em I am :spin:

yeah I know - lots of stuff that i want to do but can't cause it's my daily driver. oh well - guess I'll just have to settle with a bigger turbo :D

Or the drove with the ebrake on...:hide:
Original owner of my SVX was notorious for that. Luckily he otherwise too perfect care of it.

that may have nothing to do with the shoes and everything to do with a strecthed out ebrake line ;)
I'd suggest adjusting the line first.
