the swapped gc I picked up still retains it's stock trans at this time with an upgraded clutch. IIRC the linkage in the 96 was different from the RS' and I don't believe there is a short shift made for that specific year. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Because I'm under the impression I'll need to swap the linkage with an RS to get a kartboy to work. I don't like it when I shift it feels like I'm rowing a boat.

You are right. Swapping the linkage ain't that bad though. What year is the other trans you have?

Put the '97 tranny and linkage in, its the same as RS stuff. The problem you will have putting just a linkage in is with the u-joint on the shaft right out of the transmission.

Well that kinda defeats the purpose of having the spare tranny.

If you are just looking for a shorter throw, you may want to talk to Jaketips.

or I could take the tranny out of the 97 and use the linkage from that then buy a kartboy. If/when I blow up that tranny throw in the 97 and I'm still good to go ;)

If you can pull the shaft with u-joint out. They are different on the older vs newer style trannys in the way the linkage bolts to it.
