Meh, we all hated the Bugeye when it came out. Then the Blobeye. Then the Pignose. Now everyone here has owned one of the following. This too shall pass. If you hate the looks, it's not for you... buy it for the drivetrain; you won't be looking at the car when you're creeping over 140mph on track.

Looks worlds better with the rear center taillight garnish taped off.

Regardless of that. I never disliked the bugeye or the pig nose. The blob eye was not bad but it I liked the least. It became very generic that year. Now it is getting generic again. I mean come on now.

How many ****box hatchbacks are out there? Why does Subaru have to Join them. It is a Ford Focus with gay taillamps. The only appeal to me is the new rear suspension revision... Finally!! but they should have redone the front too if you ask me. The motor is always nice. And now they strip off the nicer brakes?

While I agree that there are plenty of ****box hatches out(read: Chevy Aveo, Nissan Versa, ****us, you can buy two of each for the price of a base WRX), I would say that the new Imprezas aren't in the same league; even the base, nonturbo Impreza offers better utility and driving enjoyment... the STi will be a true "hot hatch". Yes, ugly... but very fun and good to live with on a daily basis. Don't like the hatch? Buy a sedan. Need something to be "seen" in? Buy a two year old BMW. Want to be the coolest showoff kid in school? Buy a Mustang GT. Like the ugly but need better gas mileage? Buy a Yaris sedan.

I also think a better question to ask is "why did Subaru stop building hatches in the first place?" They made their name from ugly, bulletproof, agricultural hatches and wagons, and have only concentrated on cars that were *also* good looking for the past decade or so... I think it's a return to what made them great in the first place(though I hate that these are DRESSED UP ugly, bulletproof hatches and wagons). If they were to rerelease any of their slow EA-71, EA-81, or EA-82 cars, I'd be first in line to get one(a zero-mile 130hp '89 GL turbo 4WD Touring wagon would be amazing).

Friggin right it would be. I would love to have an old school Subaru GL. Subaru GL 4WD! Yeah!

It is an ugly car. Maybe give it some time but I don't like it much now. It would need to be heavily modded as soon as it hit my driveway. Like take it in the woods and rally it until the dirt was caked on so hard it was permanent.

i've seen some pretty sweet photoshop of them on nasioc... with just a little lip kit, it looks 10x better, but maybe a little too legacy style... not that thats a bad thing.

i need more concrete looks, big decision to make regarding what i'm going to do about a new subie, so 'non-stealth' images are definitely necessary

Saab, Mazdaspeed 3, Focus, Hatches Hatches everywhare, if they are going to give us hatches why dont they at least toss two of those doors in to a dumpster and give us back the 22b or at least an alcyone?

If you don't rally it you are gay. It should not be sold with an interior. Two racing seats and a cage. No A/C. No auto HVAC. No radio. No rubber bushings. Urethane everywhere.

Thennnnn. I would like it. A lot lol.

Right now I want to crap on the roof of it.

+1. Obviously Subaru is making a move toward the mainstream, but if they were to release a five door Impreza WRX with no A/C, no P/S, no headliner, manual mirrors, crank windows and non-power locks, two vinyl seats, 16" steelies, and an AM/FM radio for say, $15k, I'd be first in line; the only thing I insist on is rear discs. Ok, $15.5k... I guess I'd take a backseat, too. And some roof vents. And if there were popout rear windows, I'd be happier.

Bring back the uglies.
