I'll second that. And I'll apologize for what I'm going to say in advanced.

I can't say that I see this as a positive but it's not my site. Offering something and then taking it away isn't going to be taken lightly. I'll just say this now. :unamused:

FWIW I'd rather donate my money to someone or an organization who needs the money more for more important things. Not saying that NES doesn't need money but I'm sure you folks are better off than small hungry children in 3rd world countries.

Remember that when you're eating your fancy Thanksgiving dinner and writing checks for your car payments.

Since the initiation of the chatbox, forum posts have gone down and chatbox somehow manages 300,000 posts a day... not really but you get my drift.

Chatbox is for small talk like it says, and most people asked their subaru related stuff in it. Thus, making the forum less active.

Donator status isnt just bought, you could contribute to the organization and earn that status.

Yea but the thing i argue with randy before hand rob is that even if you flat out took chat box away. Just imediately took it completely away.. You might see a slight increase on thread's. But its not gonna be drastic change that we might think would happen due to so many people chatting on there.

What makes chatbox in itself so widely used is its much easier to stream everything and it makes it feel more like your talking to someone right there and then instead of posting "oh hey guys hows it going" and then leave for 30 minutes in hopes of a response. and if it was a money issue i think this going about the wrong way.. The only way we are gonna make substantial amount of money off this site is to spread it like a disease and market it some how almost like a product. and the best part about it we have people at our disposal that can do this. We are subaru community of people of every walk of life in the hobby/job world

Super meets are a great idea for money. the 50/50 raffles are awesome idea. BBQ's great idea. They make money.

*Shrug* just my .02

As I do. I'm just not a post whore. Bumping threads for no reason and adding unnecessary feedback isn't for me. How many posts does it require to get that status? That's pretty much my point. I do have some sort of a life.

I think people need some sort of basic training or training wheels if you will to use any car forum. I'm very tired of struggling to read poor grammar and seeing someone ask the same questions over and over. Using the chat box to ask questions on how to do something is just laziness. So thanks noobs for causing us to lose the chatbox.

+1 well said Rob. An active forum is more important than an active chatbox.

If you're not a donating member post up in the longest thread
plus it's another perk for those who donate to the forum!

I really like the chatbox for quick answers and questions, and things you don't need to make a whole thread about.

personally, i don't really use the chatbox so i don't really care what happens with it... but i agree it is a perk for donating members. it was just a couple weeks ago that non-donating members are now allowed to have their own avatar so i see this as a far trade. there needs to be SOMETHING that gives you a perk for donating

yes but if you think about growing the usefullness of the forum, getting those answers posted up means that in the future somebody can search and access that information that you needed

The only thing I don't really like about posting quick questions on a new thread is that is takes really long. Then I go and contact other sources for question answers, and my question is solved. So then people post on my thread way after the fact I needed the info.yes but if you think about growing the usefullness of the forum, getting those answers posted up means that in the future somebody can search and access that information that you needed

exactly the point of a forum, the chat box will help you now, possibly no oneelse. But when its posted on the forum everyone who is in search will have the ability to find it.

That's not the point. Subaru Forum Friends Don't really equal out to be real friends IMO. The chat box was a good place to talk in general to a large group of people who all share one common thing. But that's my 2 cents.

The chat box was not taken away for the donators as a money making ploy, it was strategically done to get people asking questions in the forums where other people who have the same questions will also be able to see the answers. it was either making it a perk for those who earn it or taking it away completely. I think if its going to cause this much trouble it should be completely done away with. IMO

That's not my point. I'm complaining because it was once a feature offered free of charge and now it requires donation. Whether it be whoring yourself out or spending a couple hours worth of my life in work.

It's not cool to take something that was free away from someone and then say "You can have this when you pay me money". Doesn't seem right.

Welcome to today. nothing is free.

I'll both agree and disagree with this statement.

It's just morally unacceptable to suddenly change your mind about offering something after it's been in use for months. I feel a tad cheated in a way.

Whatever. Life will go on. If I get bored I'll just use another forum more often.

i think the chat box really doesn't help any forum because the idea of the forum it the shared info. you cant archive a chat box and since the firs thing every noob it told it to search questions being answered in chat are of no help. my .02

Welcome to today. nothing is free.

Thank you!

This site costs both time and money to keep it running. Donators are appreciated and are given perks as a way to say thank you for supporting the site.

Non-donators, enjoy all the other things the site has to offer you for free and stop complaining (but thank you for your opinions).

I appreciate everyone sharing their opinions and all have been taken into consideration.

I wish I could make everything available to every member free of cost, but unfortunately that's not possible.

I think we're arguing a moot point.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions.
