wasn't this a special model legacy also?
Yes it is, it's the "Mi" or Alpine sport wagon, a 94 only model. It's got heated seats, heated mirrors, and a block heater.
It's anyones guess on the power output, it's running 10psi on the vf39.

Yup, Rob built my ECU, and tuned my chip with feedback from me. Hes the only one whos cracked the obd1 ej20g code, and has years into doing so.... not something i have the time to get into. Ive been tuning Hondas for 6 years and have tuned a number of 500whp boosted hondas. Im working on open source obd2 flash tuning on subarus, at the moment :D

you guys should know how i roll by now, all custom fabbed by me! I love being able to say "yup, built this car myself"
Im not going to have to change too much to go rotated, new DP, new chargepipe, and weld a Vband to my up pipe (getting a tial vband housing for the 30R) Im probably going to build new chargepipes out of aluminum, since i have a TIG now that i didnt have when i built them originally.

Very impressed, subscribed. I do have to say though I'd pick a different muffler, paint the intercooler black and go back to a ventless hood, but that's a matter of taste so I'm not going to try to convince you. :)
What I do want to convince you of is chassis bracing. At the very least I'd put on front AND rear strut braces, I promise you you'll feel the difference in the corners right away. With that much power and that much grip, that old chassis has got to be twisting like a flag in the wind. How many miles on the chassis?
I did front and rear braces on my '92 Legacy sedan, which is a lot more rigid in the rear than the wagons to start, but it made a big difference. Much more solid and predictable.
Lower suspension braces would be a good idea too. I'm considering fabbing up some for my '98 Legacy wagon, but I think you can run just about anything for the first gen Imprezas on yours. I recently put a rear strut brace in my wagon -- massive difference. The wagon bodies twist like a pretzel in corners.

I really really hope so! after this change, a built motor, and paint i think im done.
yeah ill most likely add some bracing, i dont really see a huge need for it though. This thing sticks to the road like glue, it corners hard enough to scare the crap out of people i take for rides lol
I was hoping to be done after i did the six speed swap and brembos, but im kinda used to the power now, and i think i want a little more. Keeping quick spool and good midrange power is key here, unlike my honda build where the real fun doesnt happen untill 5k rpm. from the reading ive done, a .63 Tial V band turbine housing will keep the spool time down, and flow well enough for a good tq curve. I debated about building a twin scroll header, but from what ive seen on nasioc, the Tial .63 had only slightly slower spool time and more top end then a 1.06ar twinscroll on a GT35R on a sti.... we will see though. I cant wait to get the hydra and put my MAF in the garbage :)
Thanks for all the kind words guys!!!

within the next 2 months.
Got the car running on the Hydra tonight, after a little tweaking it actually runs really good.
Not positive when i will do the actual tune. My plan is to tune the Hydra on the current turbo setup, then swap out the turbo and retune after that. Then only one component is being changed at a time, so less chance for gremlins.

Finnaly started on the new setup....
made some progress in the last few days, I am fabricating the entire rotated mount setup vs buying a kit. Also decided to approach the intercooler pipes differently then I normally build them. Usually I buy 90 deg mandrel bends and cut them to get the angles I need then weld them together, this time im taking a much more time consuming approach. I am using pie cuts, which are small pieces of pipe with a 5 deg cut on each side. combining these you can make what ever degree bend you want. the upside is that its very precise and looks really cool, the downside is the amount of cutting, fitting and welding required. I figured, might as well go the extra mile with this project since the rest of the car is built top notch.
heres the pics so far, enjoy!

nice to see fabrication at any level... and a different route. Reason for fabricating.
The segmented stuff.. do you by as pie shapes or cut up on your own?
I did similar on headers, but it was greater than set angles of segment and random. It goes easy having pieces, an end result can be made right away.
mandrel bent and slightly wrong is a frustration.

very nice looking, any pics of what the inside/backside of the welds look like? I have welded up some stainless tanks that when I first started the backsides didnt look very nice. After a couple though I had it down to a nice smooth weld both sides.

odd pursuit.
painting under a porch has a purpose...keeping inside of a fluid flow beautiful is rather odd.
you know those rubber flexxers with ridges (not a sex toy) I refer to air ducts.. all ridges. Any weld with solid sides, heat transfer for metal is many times better.
I did find a rubber tube with a coil in it like a spring to keep its shape.. hung onto elements. Not sure if that was good or bad...but duct kept it's shape anyway.

backsides of the welds look good. fused most of the joints with no filler rod, so it stayed really smooth on the inside.
i got the dp done today, and started figuring out where other stuff was gonna mount. changed the p/s lines, since I went with a wrx pump. also replaced my oil pump with a 11mm sti one, replaced my timing belt with a turbo one and changed the tensioner bracket out for a turbo one with the small 5th idler pulley

well, car runs again. Needs to be tuned, ill prob start working on that this weekend. Dave came over today and helped me finish up all the other stuff, coolant lines, fuel lines, wiring etc. I tossed the ecu in and it started on the 550 map I put in it, but obviously ran rich since the injectors are 800cc. I did away with the stock fuel lines and made a setup like what you can buy aftermarket so all the injectors get the same volume of fuel instead of factory that puts #4 as the last cyl to get fuel. Still need to decide on a spot for the bov and weld that flange on, but that's minor.
Also cut/ground all the casting marks off my intake manifold and painted it wrinkle black. Used a 05 sti coolant tank and a 06 LGT p/s resivor to make the install a little cleaner. got the dp painted and wrapped in heat wrap, bolted right up like it belonged there.
heres a few finished pics, minus the bov I need to add.
