You know it's always great when my mother suggests things on the late side. Before I left to Nebraska she suggested to build a shed.... I talked to her and my dad about that like a year ago and they shot it down. Now that it's November she says something...:unamused: I do need a shed or a seperate or extended garage me thinks.
I know what I'd really like to build but that would be a HUGE shoot down.

Oh DD for a bit with track days or somethin till later. Then full streetable cage and stuff for a crazy Street legal(hopefully) Time Attack BEAST!
is it done yet?
You got like $8-9k to give me? Cause that's the basics of finishing this up. I'm waiting on AEM aswell to finish their ECU development for this. One good leap forward will be when I get a parts car that is kinda a failed EZ swap. It's actually the OG of the EZ30R swap. Therewas a fueling issue and it hasn't run more than like a mile since ECS fired it up for the first time. Been sitting since. Can you say crate motor? Can you also say Hydra?(I may throw that in just to put it on the street when I save up the money to pick up the car)

So I'm back on looking at picking up a Phase I 2.5 to drop in to pit her on the road once the powertrain is settled.... :( It makes me sad to think of this but it might just be fore the best while I figure the loose ends out. Plus the SVX is getting to the point thatbif I don't stop driving it daily with out dropping some money on it it will fall into the "dire need of work" category. This sucks when my rent is 1/5 of my monthly take home and I have so much that needs to get taken care of that I need to keep from spending money on the SVX. Then again also looming into a spare EG to get set to drop into the SVX also to deal with part of those worries. :sigh: life of owning two on going projects.

And as well I need to pay for my STi steering rack from another guy on RS25.
Oh and I got somewonderful news a few hours ago. :unamused: My STi hubs, control arms, struts and springs, cluster and a few other parts... Yeah the guy might have sold the car off whole on me and not pulling my parts that I put a deposit on and was waiting on a shipping quote before paying the remainder. SO, I need to call after class tomorrow and see what's up with that. I'll be livid if he did! I NEED those parts at this point.
Seraphinwolf
11-21-2009, 07:34 PM
Picked up some fiberglass resin and fiberglass matting. should be starting to work at that custom carpeting project soon. First I gotta pull the parts in the car out and store them somewhere else safe and relay down the stock carpet so i can smother it to death with resin and have a solid piece to make my molding work from for the new carpet's sectional shells.

Damn maybe I shoulda gone to HS in Maine? Nah... Dan's lucky. You are a rare find!
But yeah as much of the mechanical I can get done I'm doing my self. The wiring... Not so much. I'm to paranoid about it with this car. Too many little things that could go wrong all cause I accidentally spliced two wrong wires. I'll get a shop or beg and plead with someone who's done it before to do it. If it were just a WRX or STi swap sure I"d give it a shot. NOT THIS! OH HELLS NO! I was having fun yesterday morning with people on RS25.com responding to my post in a thread of "what is your Subi getting for xmas" or something like that... I posted the "short" list. :D Then a few responces in told people to just look at what I've already got and just what I've picked up this year alone! I think some of them cried a little

OBD1 n/a to OBD2 turbo is not that easy, that's why guys like Zephyr can charge wiring noobs like me $700 to do the job dude. People used to get $1100 for that too!

97'=OBD2.... Yeah I know, OBD2 with a standalone.... I know. I"ve got it covered. But yeah I know what you mean about the $700 for a simple harness. I still don't want to risk the cost on frying a standalone cause of a bad ground wire or something. Still need the exhaust shured up too. Got a few options in the works on that too. Just gotta fight the urge to do the turbo piping and blow up a motor with stock everything but injectors.

either fabritate sheet metal or others of the like. Basicly either extend the factory ones or make something new. I don't know what you'd run for the rears. I'm doing a steel widebody in the rears so it's metal for me to deal with.

Hey, do you have insurance on your phone? cause when I break mine I get a new one free of charge ;) does the iPhone offer that?
You mean Capacity? Granted mine comes with less, but I can have greater if I choose to buy it and my phone costs less, and my memory card can go from my phone, to my car stereo with no wires (and iDon't need a stupid iPhone application) ;)
If you want a full ist of how the iPhone fails at life I can PM it to you
I keep doing that... LOL Oh I can jailbreak my phone and get all kinda a **** for it. I just haven't done it yet. I'm just teasing you about the crackberry's. Every phone has it's good stuff and bad suff and that which it really should have but doens't have... :spin:

Not really. Pretty much just trying to figure my money out so I can try to go back to saving to pay for parts. I'm still waiting also for Nate to give me the six speed shift linkage. I Also now need to maybe sell the SPT to buy the GReddy. :D Yah birthday present to myself! Ontop of I still need to get ahold of Kevin Garage Tuning which is a feat in of it's self, inorder to pay off my STi bits from them so Trey can pick them up for me. Oh and u need to ship the L to California! So there's another money sink, but at the gain of custom composite parts. :)

Mmmm.... turbo manifold. Stock but hey if I actually go through with the turbo I'll get something better later. Either way it flows better than a NA manifold so I may do what a local guy to me did to his 07 2.5i Legacy and made and in between pipe to the normal piping.

Is it funny that I'm in short "finishing" my basement for the purpose of reorganizing car parts? Will post results. Nothing dance but it looks pretty damn good.
Now on to what I actually DID tonight. Since I had all this new stuff and needed to refigure out all my parts in the basement... Here we go.
Start:
Move **** out of the way and straight up displace EVERYTHING!
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010294.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010290.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010291.jpg
Line up first board and leave a gap at the bottom cause we tend to have a small flooding issue in the spring sometimes when the ice and snow melt with a heavy flow(Mother nature's a ***** and she can have a heavy flow day too...)
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010292.jpg
Okay first on is in place time to get that second one in. Unfortunately I was too lazy to REALLY work around the plug as much on the second board so I just left the space.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010293.jpg
It does however need some triming to have not just been a waist of time. Dermel do your dirty work!

Place shelf about where I want it.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn281/seraphinwolf/Lilly%20AKA%20Project%20SixGun/P1010305.jpg
Fill with parts. Labeled a few things and marked contents of boxxes on the bottom shelf. Also made sure to mark which TD04 what which. One is mint while the other has the classic oil issue.

I had it hooked up but didn't find time to juice the wagon's wiring to test it. I pulled it out just incase there was a quicksale at the meet. It's on the shelf ready to get rebooked up hopefully tomorrow morning when I get out of work and maybe tested the following day. All depends on how wiped I am after work.
And yeah the turbos are starting to pile up. Where's my cube from Diablo2 so I can pick up one more and combine to a better turbo?

fudge houses. buy parts. get yr car done the way you want it so it doesnt sit forever unfinished because you cant afford it and a house. buying a house can wait till yr done, and can wait till you know where you want to live, and where you plan to settle down. kris is 30 this year and just now getting a house. that makes more sense now that he's basically settled down, mostly engaged, and has things figured out. keep going with what yr doing (and finding me parts!)

It is budget dependent. I need to see what my weekly/monthly is gonna be this summer. My work is changing our scheduals and it may be hard to get the 60+ hours I'm used to.
I'll talk tonight at the meet about it.

If I tree falls in the forest when no one is around does it make a sound? And any MORE lip from you I won't help you get that package put together for parts for you car. BTW did you order that hatch to replace yours since it needs to get replaced anyways? Should probably get on that.

What's the AOS from grimmspeed? What other parts are needed to just drop in the motor?? Looks like not much more needed

What's the AOS from grimmspeed? What other parts are needed to just drop in the motor?? Looks like not much more needed
Yeah Grimmspeed AOS's. One for the Impreza and one for the SVX. I need the accessories for the motor and the brackets to mount them. Then the radiator. After that it's just the turbo/exhaust and ECU. Though I want to really build the motor before it goes in. I could run the stock internals with next to no boost or put in just pistons with a little more than next to none, but what would be the point when I can just to rods, valve train, and such? The rest of the powertrain is waiting on Nate to give me my shift linkage, order my clutch, and get the last of the suspension stuff. Still not a cheap list of what's left what's so ever. :o Doing as much as possible right the first time cause that's how I roll... or would be rolling if it wasn't on jack stands cause I'm still filling in parts.
etaks99rs
03-15-2010, 10:23 AM
I have the same problem. I was taking things off of my motor and I can't help but see how crappy some of the stock stuff is, so I just kept ordering new stuff. I already have my intake mani off, I might as well get new fuel lines...
Seraphinwolf
03-15-2010, 10:31 AM
EXACTLY! "I'm already doing my hubs swap. Might as well order the subframe and go the lateral links. Oh while I have it all dropped out I might as well swap to the GDB tank too huh?"
Something like that...
"Already running standalone H6, might as well twinscroll turbo it. Already adding the turbo, might as well find a HUGE one."
BTW I have a lead on the turbo that's getting sorted out. Basicly I have a second hand connection to someone who works at what was formally Garrett since they are how owned by Honeywell. Yes my turbo will be airfilter powered!
etaks99rs
03-15-2010, 10:33 AM
Yeah I definitely don't want to do any of this stuff twice. I'd rather spend the money and do it right the first time.
Seraphinwolf
03-15-2010, 10:37 AM
DING DING DING! I'd rather take the extra time having to finetune the good parts into harmony than slowly bring different parts in sequence along the way. About the only thing I'm not really messing with is the struts. At least till those inserts are set and I can budgetise them at that time.
Bu11dogg2
03-15-2010, 11:26 AM
have you sorted out what you're gonna use for an ECU?

Seraphinwolf
03-16-2010, 05:48 PM
Nah there is still plenty to get yanked out. Some of it needsro stay a little longer. Like the carpet. I nee to fiberglass the **** out of it to firm it up and cut out as three pieces to use to make a mold for backing shells to make new carpets. Just haven't gotten to it... :o

All the reading I've done this weekend on it here and there while on the phone at my GF's bassicly looks like it's comparable to the GT30R-ish maybe 35R-ish deff not the 40R but it'll be just fine for firing up the car and seeing what will happen next. http://www.rs25.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well good think I only dedicated myself to the "partly" part. http://www.rs25.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif I need to find where I put my EZ schematics to find all the plumbing visual inspection only is showing two vents and both are on th driver's side head. can't find ANYTHING along the pass side of the block in the least to indicate a venting. Maybe it's all internally tied throught he block to vent on just the driver's side? Well gotta to pull up my files and take a look at what I can figure out.
Seraphinwolf
03-23-2010, 08:30 AM
This is basicly as far as I got. I started routing around for all the venting hoses for the crank case and heads and after 5 minutes of following all the lines I could find and looking around and pearing under covers decided it'd be best to continue after finding my engine schematics sheets. Or to NOT find them as it turned out. No idea what happened to them...

I would slap one in an 87 GL...anytime... :unamused:
liking this project. The impreza does need structure help in a few spots, but nothing serious.
A little suby secret: the older gl would take a v8 in comparison of strength. (I am not even kidding..after 140 hours of tearing into every channel, and resealing).. so if the impreza is dropping it in and holding, it really is nothing to doubt. They shoulda made alot of them. the real n/a sports car.
Does the impreza have 1 empty bolt hole on each side of the engine, where engine crossmember meets the body? it is right in the middle, looking to sides of valve covers. That means flat six thought of..and never done. That one move alone, could take a 400 pound engine...
don't forget the rear of rockers, below doors...
I look forward to hearing this run...with some borla. :)

You'll see when I open the garage door... As soon as I have my strings and struts and latteral links it's time to dig in. Gotta still rip all that rear end stuff out so I can get everything else in! :D Same for the front but I'll pull that all apart and just be ready for when I find a deal on control arms to put it ALL the way together. At that point she'll beable to support her own weight again and roll around.

My sway bars, endlinks, and mounts are on the way from one guy and my turbo is finally set to get shipped out to me aswell with the swapped inlet. Wasn't fond of the 90 degree inlet housing so I traded with a guy for a standard one. No need to complicate this build any further than it already is.

Mmmmmm turbo. Can't wait to see it. And quite possibly touch it inappropriately when you aren't looking...

A good while I hope. You can't use it anyways. They require 05-07' hubs.

I didn't choose the time. It was based on when Etaks99rs was in the area.
I badly need to update the parts list but i'll just wait till my turbo and sway stuff come in.

No.

Then why do people use 04' specificly? Last I knew the strut tongues matched the 5x100 tongues vs the 05-07' STi's that had s different tongue.

The fronts will work, only from 04. The rear will fit on the bottom but the top hats will not fit. POSSIBLY (I have never tried) if you ran an 04 STi strut with a bugeye spring and top hat it would work, but no promises.

Yeah. Iwas meaning usable. Front swapping top hats it'll work. The lower tonguue mounts was what I was reffering to. But yes, as long as be swaps the hats in the rear the fronts if I remember hearing bolt right up and the rears(with the older hats) bolt right in aswell.
I'll be running 07' STi hubs with 05' STi struts with Eibach springs and Bakemono Imports camber/Caster plates so it all bolts in nice and smooth! ;)

I'll try to go back and clear it up later. I randomly woke up for like 20 minutes and barely remember even responding.
In short the tongues to the lower mounts ofthe strut that connect to the hubs are different on 05-07' STi's from the 5x100 hubs STi and Non-STi alike. I remember the rear top hats to the struts were different too but not which year te switch happened, 04/05'?

I think bugeye top hats may fit the gc chassis, but not 100% sure. All GD will fit in the front with no modifications except 05+ STi, one of the lower bolt holes is off, you can oval it out though and it will fit.

Don't know how I never noticed before that STi struts were KYBs.

The top hats matter to the springs, and to some extent (Although they'll still work, but with risk of slight clunking) the struts. If you have it all matching, they're compatible from 02-07... just make sure if you have 04 springs, you have 04-07 top hats, etc. The bolt patterns are all the same.

I'd just snipe the beast from the house with the "M1".
I PMed you. Now figure outnidnthose people want the Phase 1 2.5 or I'm gonna maybe rebuild it and put this lady on the road with the 2.5 as soon as the 6speed and hubs are settled in with the suspension. Have to be ready incase te SVX ****s the bed and I haven't saved enough for the STi yet.
