What are your future performance plans and/or dreams for you car?

Try and Stay On Topic maybe we can start having more useful technical discussions through this board for use of reference or education. I know everyone talks about it, but lets get it down on here and maybe if someone finds something you're looking for, they can refer to here.

Well ****, If were going to do everything. I was just going to focus on engine performance. But Ill put my list up as well:

VF 39 or 43
TurboXS TMIC
Walbro FP
STi Injectors
STi 6 Speed Tranny
Coilovers (Still weighing out the Brand)
Front and Rear Strut Bars (In process of ordering)
Some Sort of Nav System (AVIC-N3)
Front Lip

my plans are when the engine has some more miles and i got some more thickness in the wallet...

rip out the 2.0 and throw in either a USDM STi 2.5 or a JDM STi 2.0
add a 20g, maybe gt30
reverse the intake manifold
vmount with about 1 foot of piping to the intake
oil cooler where the tmic is now
koyo radiator
sti 6 speed
project u brakes

and no. this isn't just a dream, it will come true.

until i get the dough,
i'm think super16g with 7xx injectors and 255 fuel pump.

I'm stupid for wanting to turn up the wick on a 1st gen N/A Forester, but I can't resist the idea of a budget build on what is essentially a big, ugly white refridgerator tipped over onto a GC Impreza 2.5RS chassis.

Tires - just got five brand new "used" P215/60R15 BS Potenza G009s to replace my P205/75R15 BS truck tires, same outside diameter as the 225/45R17s I was *going* to run this summer, would like some 17" Rotas eventually
used WRX struts and springs, maybe Group N tops; will drop 2-3"
eGay strut bars and H-brace
eGay Borla-esque header
Exedy organic clutch
eGay lightened flywheel, maybe a used Exedy or Fidanza
custom 2.25" exhaust w/cheapo muffler, or vintage used Stromung or (preferably)Brullen bits... upgraded hangers
Addco 25mm FSB... might be overkill as I only have a OEM WRX 20mil out back right now
filled engine/tranny mounts
home-brew fender braces
home-brew skidplates; one front, one for the rear diff, one for the gastank
rear 4.11 LSD
rear disc brakes(the local scrapyard has SEVEN Subarus with compatible rear disc setups)
Kartboy endlinks, front and rear
Whiteline anti-lift kit
Kartboy rear subframe bushings to replace my rotten Whitelines
Whiteline rear subframe lock bolts
functional hood vents(one reverse-mount for radiator flow, two more up the hood somewhere); needs 'em, bad
homebuilt light rack up front with 4-6 Hella 500 or F1000 fogs and spots, one Hella 500 fog for the rear
random interior bits... maybe getting all 4 speakers working again would be nice, and some used WRX bits
rally 'flaps
maybe some paintwork, I'd really like to ditch the stock bumpers(front OB or bugeye WRX, rear Impreza) and plastic door cladding, I'll look into it when it's paid for in 2 years
I would LOVE to go Megasquirt eventually
"lightened" bumper beams
boxed trailing arms, STi bushings
Impreza 2.5RS steering rack(quicker ratio) and Whiteline rack bushings
ditch the trailer hitch for 40lbs. weight savings... just need an hour and air toolsWithout paint, and wheels, all this should run ~$3500 if I shop wisely and buy used whenever possible. Would still be heavy and slow(all the weight of a modern STi with half the power), but would be great in the twisties. Needs a pass. front axle and struts before anything; both are REALLY bad. If I still own it in 5 years, I'd look into a home-brew turbo... we'll see what the body looks like.

OR!!!!

I could lose my ****, and try to sell the car again
Citizens Bank could repo it anytime:)

My list is pretty short.

Install my VF37
Maybe some coils if I find the right buy.
Injectors for the turbo
EJ207 or 257
Lip spoilers
2354017 Tires
CE28N Wheels
Finish removing the A/C so I can move the alternator and run pipes to the intercooler.

My future plans are both short term and long term. Short term is going to be slightly cheaper stuff right now, mainly cosmetic and non-performance related items. Long term would be overall performance. I don't race so right now the power and performance is certainly sufficient, plus this is a daily driver for me until the end of next year.

Short Term:

Front Lip
STi Limited Rear Trunk Lip (maybe, undecided)
Double Din DVD w/GPS
Speakers
Amp
Subwoofer (use the spare tire box idea or have it molded in with the amp)
Hella Supertones
Darken the headlight enlosures

My long term goals are an upgrade of the suspension work first. Have to be able to turn before you add more powah! So sways, strut bars, coilovers, endlinks and other misc. suspension items. Then it'll be on to power such as TBE, either OpenECU or AP v2.0, Tune, STi injectors, FMIC, probably Walbro Fuel Pump or at least some sort of Fuel Pump, Brake upgrade with SS brake lines with stoptechs or brembos and then go from there.

No such thing.

And isnt it a sequential turbo system, no? Small turbo spooling a larger turbo to minimize lag? Not twin turbo as in 300zx Twin Turbo

Bone stock 04 WRX:

Just did the silencer removal mod... not much more noise but it fixed those pesky hiccups I was complaining about. Probably rig up something to get cleaner air to the filter... or I will put the u-bend back in without that stupid tank hanging off it.

Next mod is more tq... I hear the uppipe is good for more tq. Does anyone want to help me DIY? Will I need any specialty tools? Brand suggestions? Retailer suggestions? Is there any reliability issues? (other than possible leaking from bad fitment)

Then I'm getting the car tuned.

Probably keep it that way for a while, till I get a new car and then the Sky's the limit. I want something close to 300 whp so I can make M3's disapear...

We can help with 300 wheel. It is not a hard goal with a suby. You will likely find that 300 wheel is substantial and probably not needed. Just go with everyones favorite the VF34.

As for the air filter goes it is pretty easy to slice up the air box and make it better than it is now. You cut the lower portion and then leave the grill scoop in place. Possibly enhance it a little. It in reality does not do a whole lot until high levels of power. Kind of like how 2.5 inch exhaust diameter will flow around 400 horsepower effieciently.

Murphy2012
08-08-2007, 10:31 AM
350 horse is more like it. I would push out 400 with 2.5, but thats just me.

You want 300whp? Im game for helping you with that. I have a shop in laconia and am willing to help install whatever youd like, for a 30 pack fee. PM me and we can talk about what parts will be sufficient and such.

2mprzya

if you're looking for 300 at the wheels, i would first recommend talking to the tuner that you're looking to use.

I've seen a few tuners being able to get 300whp out of an evoIII16g, and others would be happier with an 18g.

Also get yourself a nice set of injectors, around 7xx's, or mod your stockers and send them out to get flow tested, cleaned.

Also you'll need a new fuel pump, walbro makes a nice unit.

I would also recommend a new intercooler. Personally I'd go with a TMIC for either 16g or 18g. If you wanted to, a FMIC wouldn't be bad, but you'd get more turbo lag.

Calm guys!

300whp is not gonna happen till I find another daily driver... which is 2 years away at the least.

I'm glad to see you guys so enthusiastic, it really makes a newcomer feel welcome.

Right now I could use some info on uppipes and downpipes and other simple and cheap mods that can be done with a few friends and beers. I need to keep this thing reliable... I'm looking for more tq and smooth power delivery. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

*No lowering either because I need snow transport*

Will i gain any power by removing my AC condensor and belt?

The ac dont work and im not dropping a few bills just to stay cool the whole 3 moths out of a year

Kevin
08-11-2007, 08:17 PM
you should gain a little bit I guess by removing the ac and the weight savings too

anyway
I want around 360-390whp on pump and maybe 450whp on race gas
I've been thinking about the sz-55 instead of the fp green

also I want to get a 2nd car soon fwd 5spd beater

Go with RWD... I can list thousands of reason why RWD is way better.

top reason... drift (its a beater right)

My 2 cents

My 2 cents

I would rather have it be fwd
most fwd 4 cyl are cheaper and better on gas then rwd
it would be decent in the snow also

I think I'm leaning towards a sentra or carolla as bad as that sounds

As a past owner of 2 Toyota's I fully support the Toyota brand... they are reliable and take a beating. The straight 4 offered by Toyota is an awesome motor.

RWD is a pain in the snow... especially if you have a Limited Slip Diff.

My old Bimmer gets 30mpg mixed driving... but its not reliable and every time I beat on it; it breaks. But it is fun~ok~

Little to none. You can save some weight by removing the components but for tha most part removing A/C is only really nice for addding some space to do something.
