View Full Version : Sneak Peak- Our Very Own FMIC
AJW Performance
11-04-2009, 01:02 PM
Hello NES,
We are introducing a quality front mount kit for the WRX/STi in the next few weeks. We just completed our final stages of adjustments, test fits, etc and will have these on the shelves very shortly. My vision was to make a kit comparable to the Turbo XS, Greddy and Perrin kits having the same quality but better warranty. Although it will be affordable it will not to be classified with the "budget FMIC'S" since we have focused on quality and warranty rather than budget; but an affordable price is always a plus! These kits will be available for half the price of the leading competitors and will perform just as well! It will the be able to satisfy the largest of turbo upgrades, the t-bolt clamps and silicon connectors ensure a leak-free seal.
The kit will include:
(available in traditional finish or stealth black)
2 year warranty
Front Mount Intercooler Core (25"x9"x3.5")
Intercooler Piping Kit- aluminum finish
T-bolt Clamps
Silicone Couplers in blue or black
Radiator Overflow Bottle
Hardware and fittings
Needed hoses
Instuctions
Aluminum MAF housing and support bracket (just add our optional K&N Cone and you get a complete intake kit as well, we usually sell these alone for 125.00!)
Warranty- the two year warranty will cover the intercooler kit on ANY manufacturing defects for a 2 year period; it covers the piping, the core, overflow bottle, and the silicone. What other FMIC does that?!?
Other things needed:
Like all other kits you will need an aftermarket intake (optional K&N cone can be included to complete our provided kit) and BOV. The bumper beam is taken out and replaced with a mounting bracket for the core (like Turbo XS). You CAN keep your factory fogs if you modify the brackets to do so. We chose not to since our project WRX will only be used on the track, we had no need for the fogs...
Fitment:
02-07 WRX
04-07 STi
Legacy GT fitment coming soon
Available:
December 2009
taking pre-orders now, you can pay in full or give a 150.00 deposit. This is the intro price and it will not last!
Shipping 55.00, local pickup available
Cost:
Intercooler Kit- 375.00
Stealth (Core and piping sprayed with high temp black coating) Add 75.00
Universal K&N cone to complete intake kit (same as Turbo XS intake basically) Add 37.00

Any chance on a GC/M/F fitment? I won't be worrying about lag when I go for one, so a big core is kinda what I'd be looking for.

How long will the price be $375 for? If different what will the standrad price be? Also, do you plan on stocking these?
AJW Performance
11-16-2009, 11:37 AM
Yes I plan on stocking these, the first batch will be at 375.00, after that it will go up a bit (50.00 ish). I am now getting 10 now instead of 5 since all 5 are already accounted for.

Ok great,
Do you guys have any suggestions of a kit to use as a guideline/ model to take specs from/ "copy"...

12-19-2009, 01:20 AM
I'd be happy with something similar to what you already make.
AJW Performance
12-20-2009, 01:32 AM
Ok cool!
I was just looking for a FMIC kit that is already made so I can get dimensions and specs from it, rather then doing test fits and P&D, if I have a kit to go by it will speed up the process since I will have something to use as a guideline... make sense? I can use my core but obviously the piping is going to be different...

I was told, & it makes sense, that "painting" fmics screwed
with the cooling ability, & that anodizing was used instead of paint.
If that's not the case, I'll have my Injen fmic done.
Those look nice, will they fit a GT35R kit?
Are the Chinese making your fmics?
(I loves lead, lol!) :D

Yea I follow ya, there's quite a few companies out there that make kits for swapped GCs. May just wanna look into which one have the better fitment and use that one as your model.

They will not fit rotated.
The core is from here in USA, the aluminum piping is from China :)

No rush, since I'm still buying other parts and I really don't want to put this on in the snow...
Do you have any estimate when the black FMIC's will be done? I'm assuming next month, since December seems to have raced by us all.

Delays happen, and holiday month shipping is always madness. I'm waiting on emergency parts I ordered 2 weeks ago for work. :unamused: Like I said, I'm in no rush. :)

I want to get everyones take on this i was thinking about getting polished alum. tubes and then having them anodized blue. This does two things protects everything from the elements of nh, and will look sick under the hood. Question would you be able to anodize the core or not?

If one comes out for the GC's I'd be really interested in a black one :) Greddy makes one that fits the GC's which may mock up really well.
