So I just bought a 2010 2.5i, my intentions are not to go FI but more apealing because it is going to be my everyday driver. I have found that shopping for parts specifically for this car is nothing short of a huge pain in the butt! I am thinkin intake and exhaust for starters then going for spoiler and hood. I am new to Subaru, will an exhaust on my car have the same gurgle as an exhaust on a WRX minus the BOV? i know nothing about my engine or what add-ons will work and what ones i shouldnt waste my time with. any pointers?

An exhaust will DEF give you the boxxer burble, turbo or not ;)
I know that EFI Logics can tune non-turbo's but im not sure about the vendors on this site.
Stiffening up the suspension with either Springs or strut upgrades is great start.
There are a few really badass non-turbo cars on this site, for example mdungleman has an awesome 2.5i

As far as the spoiler goes, you can post a thread and see if somone will swap with you.
Check out our vendors section for all your parts needs!

I like the body better of that 06. When did they change to my body style, 09? I am usually not one to buy online and then have someone install the parts, there is a lot that i can do myself (if i had more time) but are there any shops in the southern New Hampshire area or Manchester area that you guys could recommend? I am picky on who i let touch my cars and i wanna make sure it is someone with a good rep.

They changed the body for 08 :)
I'll let someone else answer the second question as I am partial to the shops in NH that have vendor status with us ;)

they only did a refresh for 08-09. all new in 2010. the previous body was 05-09. hopefully they will refresh in 2011. and HOR-C, if you need some mechanical help, let me know. I live across the river in hudson, and have access to a shop on the weekends.

I think he's talkin about the impreza. Which was brand new everything in 2008+.
hor-c, heres a link to 2008 stuff. Mostly WRX stuff, but some of it will apply to your Impreza.

Thank you so much. I have had mixed feelings about my car. I want to play a little with it, however, on the other hand I drag race, so my second toy in spring would be another mustang... so should i save my money and pick up a second car or put some money into this one. what kind of potential does my little 2.5i have? could it ever really compete with a WRX with a resonable amount of money?
Shtbxr - Thank you so much for that. I dont know many people south of Manch and TJ ( Gixxer2 ) is my only buddy with a Subie :-)

IMHO.... I would do some suspension, audio and exterior mods and maybe an exhaust.
you could race auto-cross, but a 2.5i is not gonna compete in the 1320.

Well I think my plan with the subaru was going to be suspension, intake, exhaust and some cosmetic... just a WRX hood and a spoiler, maybe the skirts. Any recommendations on Exhaust and intake? and is it worth a tune after the intake and exhaust or should i not bother.

First of all, Tristan, you can have the 2.5 if i get the STI haha. And I want to keep this car for a while, eventually turn it into a winter car and daily driver, but if i am going to drive it all the time might as well have a little fun with it. I am not planning on taking it to the track and not looking to push out any more horsepower, just wanna have fun going from A to B. plus i dont like the body and i am kinda stuck with this car so i need to at least do something to make it fun to drive :-) I had the paperwork done on a 2010 WRX and was forced to change my mind when i called my insurance company :-( biiiiig difference

I am going to be 24 in August... There was more than a 200 dollar a month difference between the WRX and the Impreza... Unfortunately I am not in the position to justify the extra money. I have been rolling over negative equity into cars for years and i have now maxxed out what i can roll over. I will have this car for a long long time.
I havent done anything to it cuz i cant find anything, i dont know what will work and i havent found a site yet that has parts for the 2010. will anything work that fits the WRX? Short shifter, hood, anything besides engine bolt ons?

all the suspension bits should cross over with ease from any 08+ wrx. shifter will work, hood will work. do a k&n drop-in, lightweight pulley, and the exhaust I pm'ed you about. the only thing that should be different is the front sway bar due to the exhaust routing/subframe. maybe you can be the pioneer to try a tribeca front sway on your car. ;)

Lol, I know the feeling on the insurance thing. Granted I called 2 days after I got mine, and it wouldn't have made a difference for me anyway. But ya, WRX's are ridiculous to insure. I remember reading an article right after getting the car (probably a link somewhere on here) saying that as of either late 2008 or early 2009 (can't remember when the article was from), WRX's were the #1 worst car to insure in the US.
Going from my Civic (2003 Si) to the WRX, with full coverage, I went up roughly $700 a year, although I did lower my deductibles from $1000/$500 to $500/$250.
All that being said, grats on the purchase. And as everyone has pretty much said, definately do suspension, intake/exhaust, and a tune. Doesn't matter what type of car it is, if it's NA, those things are must-do's lol.

Thank you, I am guessing you are at least 25 years old then lol. I am on great terms with my insurance company and a 2400 dollar a year difference between the 2 cars is rediculous. Someone clearly didnt think i should be driving one  We will see where things go from here, only another year and a half until i am 25 and thats when things will get interesting

if you put a wrx hood on it arnt you going to have to block the scoop off?

Ive had the block off plate out of my hood on my wagoon since I owned it. its never had any ill effects. it can, however, help cool the engine and help slightly with intake air temps
shtbxr22
12-23-2010, 06:32 PM
You can pressure wash underhood, and it usually doesn't affect anything. Whatever could get in through the scoop won't affect it.

You can swap on STi hood as an upgrade ilovemyr6. The STi hood is aluminum so you'll have cooler air flowing around the engine bay and lighten up your front end.
