What do people think of Town Fair Tire? Do they keep their word? Bait and switch? Quality of services?

I only use them for the free tire change over. So far they haven't damaged any rims of mine yet.

the new one in concord is retarded. They will not mount/remove tires you didnt purchase there because they can be held liable for damaging the wheel/tire bead...

Lame excuse they gave me at the beginning of spring when i wanted to swap winters to summer.

Somersworth and newington ones are decient shops. I got my rims from them and they were able to give me a discount on the tires. The have a 90 day warrenty on the tires (which covered me when a curb jumped out in front of me). I used my rims for a short time in the winter and they started to peel but they had a year warrenty on them so I was able to get a new set. Granted it took 3 weeks and they said they wounldn't cover them again in winter driving. The only thing I don't like about them is if you don't have equal tred on a tire they have you replace at least 2 wheels or all 4 if it's awd

Also if you ask for the corprate number and tell them your going to file a complant against the manager they'll usually be more willing to work with you as some of my friends have found out

I'd say go to BJ's for tires. Tire Rack did a bait and switch on me, BJ's prices leave not room for wiggle. Depending on the location they do a great job. All they do is tires, no alignments etc. I've bought at least 10 complete sets of tires from them for various cars and had no issues and saved a lot of bucks.

Not sure where you're located but I've always used Direct Tire. I've had good luck with their service and they always have discounts and coupons available.

Town Fair sucks. When my BF was having his tires done with them, they closed up shop for the day on a Saturday without even calling him to tell him they wouldn't get his tires done that day and if he wanted his car back for the night he should go pick it up. And they're closed on Sundays, so he was completely without his car for a day and no notice was given. He had to take off work that Monday because he didn't have a way to get there and he wanted to go ream them out. :unamused:

Not sure where you're located but I've always used Direct Tire.

As in the past, I've decided to buy my winter tires - Nokian Hakka R SUV - from Direct Tire. I was interested in Town Fair Tire because they appeared to have a much lower price than Direct Tire, which Barry Steinberg could not match. But I learned that although TFT advertises that Snow Tire Changeover (http://www.townfairtire.com/tf2005/tftTireQuote_2.aspx?type=size)is included in the price, I actually would have to pay an additional $40 each season for balancing. (Because we're leasing our new 2010 Subaru Outback, I decided not to buy steel wheels for the winter tires.)

Although Barry Steinberg, Direct Tire's owner, could not match the price Town Fair Tire had quoted me, he did meet me part way. And Direct Tire does not charge additionally for any part of the seasonal changeover.

The bottom line is that I, too, trust Direct Tire.

Even if this ended up being true, that TFT was cheaper - In my experience, you get what you pay for!

Stay away from TFT at all costs. I have a huge post over at NABISCO about my recent experience with their Salem, NH store. Their gross incompetence put me and my wife's safety in jeopardy.

I recently went to TFT in Biddeford to check out 235x45x18 Dunlap Wintersport M3`s for my sons car and was quoted $293.00. Tire rack wants $206.00 plus shipping , no tax. They advertise they will beat internet prices. Apparently you need to get a quote from the internet companies first before they will beat their price. Pitty the poor fool who does not do his homework and goes there. To make it worse the guy tried to switch me to a Toyo tire. Reminds me of tire shops back in N.Y. That`s another reason I moved to Maine to get away from that crap. DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING :(

Luke at TireRack.com always treats me fairly. Other random tire stores are good only to help you if you blow out and are on the donut and need to get back on real rubber. Stay away..

They gave me that line this spring...but actually mounted the tires and said they couldnt put them on the car. So I had my normal shop put my rims on. I hadn't had issues before with good prices on tires or with alignments, so I rode it out until I deemed them unfit to touch my car.

Idk if they have new guys outback but they aligned my car and the front camber was till out of spec and told me my coilovers arent camber adjustable. I told them they were and they did it fine before. Take it back in and redo it. They redid it and came out fine :palm: ...idiots. Now I am done with them!!! :smash:

...sorry Clown Fair

I know it's an old thread but I'd pass on Townfair. The one in Manch damaged a TPMS sensor on my Tacoma and shipped it with the light on. At first they claimed that it was just a low tire but I told them on a Toyota when it flashes (as mine was) it means there is a malfunction, not low pressure. I took it to Ira who very kindly fit me in on a busy Saturday and they found a new sensor in the wheel that was not "learned" to the truck. They (Townfair) just swapped it and tired using one of those generic TMPS tools like Tire Rack sells to calibrate it with no luck. $330 of my own money later I went back to TF only to find them closed for the night. Monday morning I was in there as soon as the door was unlocked demanding I be paid back. They mailed a check in about a week later.

Also, it took them THREE tries to align a nearly new Tacoma. They didn't touch camber or caster, toe only which is simple as hell to begin with and with the fancy Hunter rack they have, I could have a child doing alignments on it within an hour.

Previously when I had my Silverado (that had a loud exhaust) they took it in the shop and started revving the crap out of it. I should've learned my lesson then. No way in hell will they touch this car.

I went to the town fair tire in plaistow a few weeks ago when I went to put my summer wheels on and they flat out refused to do it because "I didnt purchase them there".. umm.. I didnt ask for a warranty.. I didnt ask for anything difficult.. balance my wheels. and put them on. so that I may leave.. buuuut they refused. so f*** them.

and before I get flamed, yes I know why they wont put aftermarket wheels that werent purchased at their store on my car. because according to them it would be a liability. but still.. it was annoying.

edit: after my rant I looked back and a few people mention this. fail on my part.. but they're still dicks.

I don't blame them for not mounting your tires for liability reasons though, imaging TFT is mounting some fool's 5 yrs old good tread tires, and later on accident happen, it will be blamed one way or another.

Boss wanted me to find new tires for the van. But wanted an invoice of the price of the tires and work to be done.

I called TFT and they wouldnt give me a invoice, and I had to show up. The guy made it sound like I was an idiot for asking this and no one else does this.

Tobad the place i get my personal stuff done, I called before and they gave me a invoice (though it was half assed by my bosses standards)

I laughed at the guy over the phone at TFT.

Taco had a nice run in with them too. After a night of blowing doughnuts in a cornfield he popped the bead on one of his tires. Brought the rim and tire into TFT, asked them to clean out the rim and re-bead the tire. Well they re-bead it, but left the mud and rocks in the rim.

Then they made him clean out his own rim with a hose in the back with some d-bag watching us with his arms folded.

TFT ROCKS!!!!!!!

Town fair has screwed over myself, and almost everyone in my family before everyone finally learned their lesson. The location next to crazy bruce in bristol. The full gamut from abusing the cars, tearing in and out of the bays and around the building, mounting a directional tire on the wrong way, unbalanced balancing, and just plain price gouging.

There are far too many independent small tire shops around to be supporting the walmart of tire places.

Do yourself a favor, don't go to town fair.

If you're around bristol, Tire Depot on John ave is the place to go, hands down.
