You planning on just bondoing it over or actually welding a plug in and grinding it flush?

If you don't have access to a quality welder you can also use autobody panel adhesive made by 3M. I have used it many times to install rockers and other patch panels and it works awesome. It's pricy, but beats all the prep and mess of welding. The last thing you want is a wrinkle in your trunk because the skin got too hot and warped.

Give me a shout if you need any other help. I've shaved a few handles and mirrors in the past. I can also hook you up with the paint and clear to refinish the lid. :)

welding sheet metal can be a *****. 3m stuff is the way to go you would be surprised how much body shops use that stuff.
