who has some parts we can share?

I also now have a BNIB Exedy stage 1 clutch kit. Mine is doing fine right now, but I know it can only take so much of the extra power for so long, and I got a good deal on this new one. And there will also be new wheels going on in the spring which will very soon be in my possession!!!

You should come over to Chris's house during my spring break when I install my clutch. It will give you an idea on the ins and outs of the process.
If you have already done a clutch on a turboed car, you should still come over anyways, to help me on my first time. :)I also now have a BNIB Exedy stage 1 clutch kit. So I put me new wheels on the other day, of course now it's going to snow tomorrow haha, oh well, I guess I just won't drive it. Had to do a little rolling in the rear to stop the rubbing, but they look great.
Also installed my new/used Infinity Basslink. It's almost completely wired up. Had to take off the intercooler to run the power wire, so I put my new Group N pitch stop in. Also had a friend install some red LED's in my gauge cluster, it looks awesome!! Oh and put on my Kartboy battery tie down.

bratman18
04-10-2011, 05:15 PM
Got a 6 speed Kartboy shift knob because the tranny didn't come with a knob. Also got an 05 STi oil pan for cheap, to replace the very rusty one on the car. So whenever I get around to doing the motor mounts, I'll do the oil pan at the same time.

DCCDPro has shipped. Should have it by mid next week. Hopefully will have it wired up soon after that, as long as I can figure it out! I know a few of you guys have doe the install, how bad was it? Any tricks I should know about? The biggest concern I have is wiring it into the drive by wire set up. I have no clue where it goes.
bratman18
05-05-2011, 08:52 PM
So my biggest question as of now is, where did you guys hook into the TPS? Like what color wire etc.?
Bu11dogg2
05-05-2011, 08:56 PM
I had Axis help me.
The hardest part is identifying the right wire on the ECU.
http://dccdpro.com/main/wp-content/downloads/DCCDPro%20UNI.pdf
• Red = 12v positive (switched power) ***Note: Do not connect to “always on” power*** • Green = 0v negative (ground) • Black = DCCD “B128 pin 1 (Black wire in tranny harness to dccd)” • White = DCCD “B128 pin 4 (Green wire in tranny harness to dccd)”
• Brown = Ebrake cutout wire (ground this to stop DCCD activity) • Blue = TPS: (Download appropriate Subaru ECM Schematic from website)
Cable throttle = “B135 pin B7” Drive by wire <2006MY = “B136 pin B18” Drive by wire 2006MY+ = “B134 pin B18”
bratman18
05-05-2011, 08:58 PM
Yeah I have the instrustions. So that is hooked into the ECU directly? Not the TPS itself? I guess that's where I am a little confused. Thanks for the response!!
Bu11dogg2
05-05-2011, 09:00 PM
maybe Axis will chime in
I nominated for you ROTM :)

bratman18
05-06-2011, 06:50 AM
Randy, do you by chance still have any of the Factory Subaru schematics? I talked to Dan and he said that he remembers a wire going to the ECU for the TPS, but doesn't remember which one or where.
jwebsta32
05-06-2011, 07:27 AM
Randy has drive by cable soooo his was different. And as for factory schematic you can get them off the dccd site. If your having trouble finding it pm me.
bratman18
05-06-2011, 05:57 PM
Ahh, ok that would make it quite different! I will take a look and see if I can find the schematic on the web site, and if I can't, then I'll let you know. Thanks!!

New Ver8 STi intercooler installed. Was and is a very tight fit, but I had the A/C lines wrapped with rubber anyway, so it should be all good. I had to bend the I/C mounts a bit to bolt it down as well.

05-10-2011, 05:08 PM
I'm still scared about hooking it up!
Depending on the version, it's not that bad. Only a couple wires to hook up, and the two from the 6MT can be swapped and it won't matter (they are both green).
bratman18
05-10-2011, 05:35 PM
It's the universal one, and I plan on using the factory DCCD switches. I have studied the wiring instructions etc, but am not good with wiring!! The biggest one I still need to figure out is the wire that goes to the drive by wire. I guess it actually goes to the ECU. I have a friend that's going to help me, and he is really good with wiring, so I'm kind of depending on him!! Lol. And from what I have seen, the 2 wires that come from the tranny for the DCCD are 2 different colors. But the instructions are pretty good explaining what gets hooked up as far as that goes!! I'm hoping for the best!

05-14-2011, 08:40 PM
I will hopefully be able to make it to a meet someday!!!
I got the LED issue fixed on the auto/man switch. I emailed Jeff at DCCDPro and he quickly replied. There is a switch inside the main control unit. You have to take the top off, and change the switch over to another setting, and just like that it's fixed!! So everything is working properly now!! +100 to Jeff Reid at DCCDPro, he is great to deal with and definitely cares about the products he puts out!!
Bu11dogg2
05-14-2011, 10:10 PM
DCCDPro is all installed and working!! The only issue is the LED on the auto/man switch doesn't work.
FYI, in one of the two modes (can't remember which, probably auto) it's not lit up until the car starts moving.
bratman18
05-14-2011, 10:23 PM
Yeah, that's auto. It definitely wasn't working before, but he explained it was because it was set up for the controls that are included with the controller, not the factory controls. It's all good now!!

Now I just have to figure out some weird clunk that I am getting when I shift sometimes, or when I stomp on it. I never had it before. I'm not sure if something is loose, or if it's just a bad bushing or something. I had to give my ramps back to my ex, and have no way to get the thing high enough to check it out.
Bu11dogg2
05-15-2011, 05:43 PM
coming from the rear?
bratman18
05-15-2011, 06:26 PM
Seems likes towards the passenger side rear, but hard to tell exactly where
Bu11dogg2
05-15-2011, 06:51 PM
might be the same rear end clunk that WRX's suffer from
bratman18
05-15-2011, 06:52 PM
And what's that? And why would it have happened right after the 6 speed swap?
Bu11dogg2
05-15-2011, 07:19 PM
What rear diff and what year sti transmission?
bratman18
05-15-2011, 07:23 PM
It's an 04 STi tranny, and an R160 91 Legacy turbo VLSD rear diff.
Bu11dogg2
05-15-2011, 07:30 PM
most of the time the clunk in the rear is caused by the soft rear dif bushings.
Did you change your clutch out?
this should solve your issue

bratman18
05-15-2011, 07:33 PM
It actually does sound a little like it's coming from the passenger side outrigger area, so it could very well be it. When I get a chance to get it up in the air, I will take a look at it. Thanks for the link Randy!
bratman18
05-15-2011, 07:34 PM
But it does say that the diff bushings won't work for Foresters
Bu11dogg2
05-15-2011, 07:54 PM
I would think that someone makes them for the forester
bratman18
05-15-2011, 07:56 PM
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. But have also read that you have to take out the rear crossmember to put new bushings in this style. It's the same as older Imprezas and Legacy's
bratman18
05-15-2011, 10:14 PM
Just ordered these.......http://turninconcepts.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_23_25&products_id=23

bratman18
05-19-2011, 06:19 AM
So yesterday I noticed my exhaust getting quite loud from the front. I crawled under it enough to find a big crack on the collector of my cheap ebay headers. So I picked up a very nice upgrade! GT-Spec headers, with the matching up-pipe. There are the nice strong ones with the 3 bolt up-pipe flange. So those will be going on tomorrow!!
CanonShooter
05-19-2011, 06:49 AM
That is the challenge with headers.
GT Spec equal or unequal?
bratman18
05-19-2011, 06:51 AM

05-20-2011, 05:00 PM
congrats! When is the tune?
bratman18
05-20-2011, 05:05 PM
When I can swing it! This was an unexpected expense. I should have bought a better header in the first place or I wouldn't be dealing with it!! I would love to get pro tuned this summer, but the OFS COBB tune will have to do for now, as it has the last 1.5 years. I really wish there was someone in Maine that did tuning so I didn't have to drive so far for it.
bratman18
05-22-2011, 10:18 AM
Went on a group drive yesterday to Bar Harbor with the local club. Went great until I broke a rear axle LOL. Not really sure why it happened, probably just a bad used axle that was put in, even though it looked fine. Also broke a rear sway bar endlink mount. The part that is on the lateral link. So if all works out right, those will be upgraded. For now, I'll just reweld it.
Bu11dogg2
05-22-2011, 11:02 AM
sucks your axle broke :(
You should get tuned sooner than later. Your load points are different with the 6 speed + add all the mods you have it's a recipe for disaster.
bratman18
05-22-2011, 01:53 PM
I am tuned for STi stage 2, using an 04 STi ECU, and COBB AP. But yes, I plan on getting a tune as soon as I can!!
bratman18
05-22-2011, 05:27 PM
OK!! So I just welded on a grade 8 washer to replace the broken piece of rear endlink mount. Seems very strong, and actually came out A LOT better than I was expecting. Also welded on an exhaust hanger where there was supposed to be one for my down pipe, so that SHOULD NOT hit anymore! My Harbor Freight welder did a pretty decent job today!! I also installed my Kartboy rear outrigger bushings as well, and have pics of the install. I was asked to do a write up on the install, so I will get to that later. I'm going to go take a test drive and hopefully everything I did, holds up!
bratman18
05-23-2011, 06:05 PM
So to avoid there being any issued with the DP exhaust hanger, I ordered the correct one from the dealer for the 6 speed. So that will be at my house on Wednesday, and that should work great at keeping my DP where it's supposed to be!
bratman18
05-29-2011, 10:20 PM
Today I went to MikeyMeyagi's and put my old FXT transmission crossmember back in and removed the STi one. There is quite a difference in height between the two, and the STi one was causing the driveline to be at a weird angle and cause some crazy vibrations. Much better now!!
02wrxman
05-29-2011, 10:54 PM
i hope this does not happen to me when i put mine in but i have my 5mt one that i am going to use.
bratman18
05-29-2011, 11:01 PM
Nope, you will be fine. It's just because the Foresters have blocks for the front and rear crossmembers, so the transmission crossmember has to be shaped different to accommodate that. But yours will work fine!
02wrxman
05-29-2011, 11:07 PM
then i should be all set with using it with a 6spd mount then. idk know fozzy were that different.

I actually came home yesterday to find a nice surprise!!! A certain someone gave my car a bath!! And I know this was no easy task! There were weeks of splattered bugs on the front end that did not want to come off, but it's all shiny now!!! Or was until this rain we had this afternoon.

Haven't figured it out yet. And I'm actually getting pretty frustrated with it.

I think there are a few others running them. They seemed to take some slop out of the driveline. ImportImage is where it's at!!

This looks like a good mod. Any increase in NVH?

A little. Hard for me to notice with the vibration issue I am still having though. But I wouldn't say there is much. You still have rubber in the center bearing of the driveshaft, so that should take out most of the NVH.

Here is the link, but like I said, I got them through ImportImage, along with new one step colder plugs.

Seriously considering an R180 and driveshaft shop axles. I broke another axle yesterday and wasn't even getting on it. I found the axles through a vendor for A LOT less than on driveshaftshop.com but it's still gonna hurt if I do it. If I had know I was going to have issues like this, I would have stuck with the 5spd. I went with the 6 spd for strength, but instead, I am dealing with this.

^what vendor sell those axles for a lot less?
How are you snapping axles? I make way more power and I haven't :iam:

I can't remember the name of the vendor atm, but I will check and get back, and I have no clue. The axles themselves are not snapping, it's the joints. I know you are making more power, so I don't know. It's really frustrating though.

still doesn't seem right that they snapped and you weren't pushing them.

It's the second one. I'm thinking it may be related to that weird noise/vibration I have had ever since the swap.

maybe the axles were bad? Or the rear diff is moving around way too much!
