Just dropped car off at DSG today for retune on 91 crap.....hopefully I wont lose too much....compensating for 91 with the addition of my GT-SPEC header up pipe and removal of the cat.....details weds.

Why did you switch to the Hallman? I may want to go to manual BC before I get re-tuned after I get my clutch installed....

I had a grimmspeed EBC and it was not working well with the turbo set up I have. The turbo would spool so fast and the EBC would try to correct too fast for stock ECU that it would end up hitting fuel cut and not sounding good. Matt recommended switching to a manual.

Nice car and powerplant setup. Is the 2.5R a ball-bearing turbo? The torque must make your car a beast to drive :) Also, why did you tune for 91 octane?

P/s: Do you still have/plan to sell that Grimmspeed header? If so - and if the price is right - I'll take it from you :) I used to have the GT Specs before going rotated and loved it but now with a rotated setup, I'm too lazy to modify a GT Spec UP for an EWG.

93 is becoming hard to come by up there. I've tuned it and the quality is pretty good for 91 though.

Was not planning on spending any money on the car this winter, other then a set of snows. Now found that stock clutch isnt liking me very much at highway WOT pulls. So new clutch is in order.....going to try to get that done before turkey day. And another idea has been put into the works. I am toying with an idea on how to combat the silly 91 we have here in maine.....

A couple of questions for:

How long(miles wise) have you been that HP and TQ on the stock tranny and how is it holding up for? I just got mine tuned and pretty pretty close as the same numbers as you and a little concerned about my tranny. I drive pretty conservavtive for the most part but do get it on the highway and never launch my car from a dig. I'm just wonderign should a upgrade to a STI or RA gears and time soon so I don't do any damage? Here is my thread with dyno chart for you to take a look at thanks.

I've talked to silverwrx666 about that setup in the past and it seems like the best route to take. same strength as the ra or ppg (can't remember which) but ALOT cheaper :)

I've never heard of a vavle. Can you explain this?

Also, in detail, explain what torque has to do with hoses coming off a vavle.

Torque makes the motor move in a lateral motion. When said
force is acted on the motor the lines that are tight like the one going to the BPV(by pass valve) would get pulled off. Any other questions?

Today the six speed showed up......YAY. NOT SO MUCH! After shipping company offloaded said transmission I did an inspection.....PHUCKING BELL HOUSING WAS MISSING A BASEBALL SIZE CHUNK AND THERE WERE SEVERAL CRACKS BELOW THE MISSING PART. I was so angry I forgot to take pictures. I rejected the shipment and contacted seller. He is fighting with shipping company and working on replacing my order by friday...................I want my god damn car back

Talked to seller the other day. Shipping company is paying for the trans to get swapped into a new case WOO HOO i guess. He also said he is going to give me some money back for the PITA factor. alll trans parts should be here next weds....and fingers crossed the swap should be complete next weekend.

Despite some minor set backs the 6 speed install will be attempted tomorrow......FINISHED NO because of some **** up at UPS my rear axles wont be here till monday.......Proposed finish date 6/28/10 I HOPE TO GOD! Joe will be there tomorrow and he is supposed to be taking picture of the mayhem......

We had my wife operating the floor jack, my brother lining up the input shaft and me on my back holding the tail section. Oh and the car on jack stands.

The biggest problem was getting the 5MT out, but that was because we didn't remove the pin from the clutch fork :unamused:

MOAR UPDATES

Joe, Chris, Pat and I started the install yesterday. I think total time before we actually had the six speed in the car was 3 hours. Joe has more pictures than I do. After getting the six speed inside the car Joe and Chris had to leave because of Joe's BBQ. Pat and I finished the rest of the install by mounting up the R180 and drive shaft. Got everything all buttoned up and we decided to keep the car on the lift and check the clutch engagement. Clutch felt great. When the wheels engaged how ever there was a HORRIBLE CLICKING NOISE!:eek::eek::eek::eek: Pat had thought that the dipstick was bent maybe and hitting the diff. Not the case. Then he thought it might have been my wrx axles hitting inside the R180 that we had installed to keep debris out of the rear end and the wheel bearings clean. ONCE AGAIN NOT THE CASE! Narrowed it down to the fact that the wheel that has the speedometer gear on it had locked up and not moving in harmony with the gear on the front diff. NOT HAPPY!. 4 hours later we had the gear out of the front diff by removing the axle covers and sliding the diff to the side. Tuned the wheel up and re installed. Got the wheels up to 20mph and NO NOISE :spin::spin::spin::spin::spin::spin:

Tomorrow night the swap will be completed *fingers crossed* when my rear axles show up because UPS decided to delay them and bring pain to my life.

This weird thing in my car appeared today???? FINALLY IT MOVES. Pat and I installed my rear axles today and got my car moving again. Weird shifting into sixth and pulling the ring to get into reverse. Oh well I will get used to it hahah
