Connecticut Radar and Laser Jammer laws
Radar laser detectors (http://www.radarbusters.com/radar-detectors/6524+6526.cfm) and laser jammers (http://www.radarbusters.com/laser-jammers/6524+6527.cfm) are legal to own and operate in passenger vehicles in the state of Connecticut.
Currently the only state that it is illegal to operate a radar detector is Virginia and Washington D.C.

I got pulled over back in 2006, CT State Trooper hit me with Lidar, out in Old Saybrook. I pulled over before he even had his lights on. that was a Lovely ticket.. lmao! he seen the Radar Detector, didnt say jack about it.. Only places I know they are actually Illegal is Virginia, Washington DC, and any Military Installation. I get Harrased bout mine all the time when I go on the Navy Base in Groton if I have a reason to go deal with the whacko's there.

But Most Cops are running Lidar now, So having a Radar detector doesnt help out much lol.. Unless the cop is running Radar from the Cruiser, while he's driving.. I dont see to many Staties with External Rear facing Radar.. There usually Hiding somewhere running the Lidar Laser... Which is impossible to detect till they hit ya with it.

I think he may be thinking of the signs from years ago that said the are illegal in CMV's, 18 wheelers and such. CT outlawed them before the Feds did it for those classes of vehicles. I remember every time I had a run in CT I would see the welcome to CT sign along with the warning and fines for detectors in CMV's.

Actually, CT Does allow the use of Traffic Camera's.. there just not really used for Speeder's.. the City of New Haven has Various Camera's used for traffic, but they are generally for Red Light's.. Catchin people running red lights and such. Ive seen a few in a couple other towns, Dont remember where though, i travel entirely to much.

the ones we have in my area are set up a little different I guess. when you go double the speed limit past them they just flash SLOW DOWN
or so I've been told...

Yea, they have those in Mass also... i always come up on the one up I-290, just before 495, north of Worcester... It has a Radar on it that detects ur speed then flashes the sign.. there not actually a camera.. I think the Speed camera's that have been spoken of here are like those over in England or something... If ya cruise past it at a certain speed they snap a photo of you and ur car and you recieve a lovely ticket in the mail... They dont have those anywhere around here, Never seen any in New England.

ya the police on base are mean... i know a guy that got a ticket for doing 21 MPH in a 20 MPH zone... they also have flashing yellow and red lights and i know a guy that went through the flashing yellow one cause its a warning and he got pulled over and ticketed for running a stop sign. :spin:
i just try to drive 5 under at all times. then again if i do get pulled over, i know quite a few of the MA's and if worst comes to worst i can name drop :D

This is the rule on military installations NEVER speed ever they will tag you for 1 mile over or minimum you get a strong warning.
By the way I used a Valentine all the way down to Florida a few weeks ago. I took it off my visor in VA. and it was useless in Florida as all cops there are on laser and they know how to use it. Sometimes you can pick them up if they are tagging someone who is not you with it but this is rare.

ITS A TRIKK...
Do U know who makes the best detectors? (at least IMHO)... Cincinati Microwave...
If I am not mistaken they make the stuff for the po-po in the other half of the building... its like bingo at grandma's church...RIGGED
On that note both my STi and 4runner have K-40 remote detectors installed in them... controlled with a bluetooth detector... Like MammaJamma said, useless with radar if the nail U, all it does it make a bad sound to let U know UR bummin, although it has caught radar on other folk nearby me...

You need to combine the use of radar with common sense..... like not speeding while coming over hills or around turns, or long straight aways....
Like any piece of technology it requires a human element to work ;)
