Looks good how it is, Im in the process of doing the same thing. Definitely not going glossy.
I actually got down to the point where the chrome is coming off. And guess what, its actually chrome !! Literally strips of metal coming off, holy hell is it a pain. Its basically the heat generated from using the sanding attachment on my dremel, starts to strip it off.
Im thinking of color matching the emblem. But then I would have to do the rear as well. I might wait until I get some darker wheels go to that level.
I also painted my Fog light surrounds with the same paint I am going to use on the grille.
Your grille kinda makes me wish I didnt even start to strip the chrome, but since I started, I gotta get it all off or the rest of the paint wont adhere.

Yum... did the same thing on my Forester a couple years ago. Sanded with 220, sprayed with two coats of no-name black primer, 5 coats of Krylon Satin black... still holding up well after 3 winters, other than 2 p[aint chips.

i dont recomend the chrome ring on this badge. if you can tell there the trim ring a little black and then the crome ring from the badge. i also got the rear but waiting for my trunk swap and i have a carbon L7 on the stearing wheel.

I like it! Great job, DIY stuff is definetly the way to go, so much more gratifying.
