today it just clicked, my 2003 wrx wheels don't have TPMS, im an idiot and didnt look before so i could have the wheels taken off and have them put in before i painted them. My question is, will not having them in effect anything, or will there be a chim while driving?

No it wont hurt a thing.

The only indication you will have is the TPMS dash light will flash for about 45 seconds after the car starts up then stay lit until you shut the car off. There is no warning chime, or any other indication.

My winter wheels have new TPMS sensors in them but I never got them reprogrammed to read with the stock sending unit, so they dont work and I get the dash light all winter long, I just get used to it and ignore it after a while.

Subarus TPMS system isnt very user friendly in my opinion. General Motors TPMS will recognize a new TPMS sensor and automatically reprogram itself. There is no way to do this with Subarus without a trip to the dealership. A tech has to reprogram the sending unit to work with the new sensors.

It's required on all 2009 or newer vehicles, however you are not required to use it.

Just ignore the light.

Ocean Subaru will reprogram the ecu for 20 bucks. I do it because I have the sensors, and the system has saved my butt before. My summers got down to about 20 psi on all 4 corners, but I couldn't tell by looking at them.

Exeter Subaru will reprogram them for free if your getting other service done at the time, ie oil change, etc.

if you want to use them then just have it reprogrammed other wise if you just want the light to go out throw all 4 sensors in the spare tire then inflate to desired pressure. seen it done a few times...pretty cool if you dont want to see a light on all the time. JUST MY .02 :D

I want to just pull the bulb but idk how to pull apart the dash. The older models where easy but the new ones are about as water tight as a dolphins butt!!!!

I was gonna pull the sensors from my stockers and put them in my 18's but the cost of de-mounting and re-mounting two sets of wheels was ridiculous:spin: So I'm dealing with my light too it sucks but... It kinda grows on ya after a while
