The widebody donor car. Previous owner pretty much raped it and left it for dead, by the time I got it the only possible use was to removed the rear quarters which were already on the car and take the kit.

How the 96 sits at the moment after Justin and I threw the FMIC on it.

I made several offers which were close to what he wanted but, he didnt wanna let it go. The price he was asking was low! and im really suprised i didnt end up buying it. Oh well, glad someone local will be having fun with it though.

What do you have for a 22b kit? the rear fenders are on the car everything else bolts on. I still have to figure out what to do for the fender liners.

Boo HT Autos. Not a fan of their fitment and quality. I know Rob like his front end but I don't know. Aero-sim Research is what i'm going for my front end bits and stuff. Good to see the car getting done. Poor guy got so far and then had to drop the project. I think I remember his name was Tim Burns wasn't it?

edhaha It's still in the parts collecting phase and aside from finishing the body work I need (off the top of my head)
-rear brakes
-Tranny/Rear Diff (though My Name on here gave me a decent price for his, I just have to make time to get them)
-Intercooler
-Rims/Tires
-Seats
-02 WRX ecu
-Misc Sensors
Ok so after thinking about it it's nowhere near close haha

edyea I just went and looked over the car again, I need a ton of parts still. I may just look for a 98-01 RS with a dead motor and swap the 22B kit onto that, I wouldn't be losing money either since I paid less for the whole car than the kit is worth anyway.

Well I have a small update...
Instead of buying a a whole cars worth of parts I'm just buying another car to fit the widebody kit onto and I'm picking it up tomorrow morning.
There's only one catch, it's already swapped:devil:
the car is a L coupe with a wrx swap and some other goodies like a bigger turbo, injectors, tbe, headers, sti uppipe, sti suspension bits, etc...
The other good thing most of the stuff I bought already I can still use, especially the 4 pots

I'm also picking up a fmic later this week, once that's on the car only thing I'll need to make decent power is a good tune. That'll be it for go mods, focusing on the widebody kit and wheels, once that's done I'll start doing for suspension mods.

Ordered a FMIC kit and I plan on installing that on the 20th when I'm having that garage day I posted. After that my buddy said he should be able to start rolling on the bodywork so hopefully within the next few months the widebody kit will be on and painted.

So what on the current agenda for the car?
Spilner
06-11-2010, 10:22 PM
The agenda is put the fmic on the car then once that's done my buddy is gonna knock out the body work and paint the car. Then drive it and mod it more as I go. The next big thing I want once that's all set is a new tranny, I'd like to pickup a 05+ LGT 5 speed.
Oh also the car is gong to be painted Steel Blue Mica
Seraphinwolf
06-12-2010, 02:45 AM
Have you thought of just using the LGT gears in your case? That way you avoid the pesky parts like a missing speed sensor. Batorr did that and seems to be a great option.
squeethebee
06-12-2010, 03:45 AM
LGT case itself is stronger as well. Why miss out on that?

Plenty drivable without the speed sensor, but just an idea if he wanted ro retain it.
Spilner
06-12-2010, 04:39 AM
I haven't gone too in depth with looking into the lgt tranny. I just know I don't want to pay 4500 for a 6 speed or more for a ppg tranny. All I know is at some point I'll have t do something at some point or I can just keep buying L trannys for a couple hundred a pop.

Wiring was done at ECS, I hate wiring and refuse to do it myself. For the money it costs I think it's well worth it to have someone experienced who has done it before take care of it.
My advice would be to send it out to someone who does wiring.

Spilner
07-30-2010, 03:32 AM
In addition to the bars I just picked up and while I'm waiting for my body guy to get to my car I figured I'd upgrade my brakes since the plan is for the car to see track days.
I have JDM 4 pots in my garage collecting dust so I figure it's time to buy some pads and rotors so I can throw them on. I've been looking at DBA Slotted rotors and Hawk HP+ pads, I'll probably most likely pick up some stainless lines and better fluid while I'm at it.
Anyone have any experience with a good pad/rotor combo that sees street driving with the weekend track days?
Seraphinwolf

5000's and some Hawk pads.

HP+ are hawk pads so you just reiterated what I said. Have you run this setup? Bodywork depends when my buddy can get to it, he has his own stuff going on so I understand he'll get to it when he can. I don't really call actually working on my car dilly dallying.

I haven't run them, but have put some time into researching pads. I am going to run the HP+'s because they can hold a little more heat then the HPS pads, even if more dust is the result, but aren't as crazy track oriented as their Black or Blue pads.
Also, you gonna be able to find the pad for that application?
And to be fair, you both only work on your cars' when others come over under the guise of "install days". You both have no idea what you are doing, do you?

Hey Matt, from hawkperformance.com:
HP PLUS
Sports car racing and Rally applications needing lower initial bite and effectiveness. Excellent track day compound that can be driven on the street.
*Due to high friction levels this product may produce increased rotor wear and Brake noise when used for street driving.
I take it to mean they work better once you put a little heat in 'em, but aren't like a track pad where they don't work when they are cold. I've boiled fluid, cracked rotors and disintegrated pads, I think I am capable of putting some heat in 'em

not really, if I can't get it to fit after trimming the beam again I may end having to pick one up. Though by the time I'm done trimming this thing it'll probably weigh less than the jdm beam:lol:
