I know if money was not an option, this was not my DD, and I wanted a real race/show car, then I would absolutely go to an 18inch aftermarket wheel.
I want to keep my stockers and throw snows on them, but Im leaning towards picking up some Rotas for summer driving with a nice set of tires.
Problem is, that I am in love with the Rota G-Force, which I would pick up in a 17X8. Rota does not make the G-Force in an 18" wheel.
Does anyone think this is a waste of money to be purchasing 17s ??
For me my major concerns are the lesser cost of 17" wheels and tires, less of a change to the vehicle dynamics, and the G-Force which I dig.
Heres my LGT and I would consider Bronze, Gun Metallic, or Steel Grey.

Im not a fan of the polished lip, otherswise I would highly consider Hyper Black.
Also, future mods would include
- FSB / RSW / End Links / Upgraded Brackets
- POSSIBLY Lowering Springs+Bilstien
- Brakes (just SS lines + HP Pads for now)
Then after handling/braking, I go with Power, to be determined later this year with release of so called Cobb AP for 2007+ LGTs.
So first are the wheels, whatd ya think ?

Not sure what the difference are in ride height on the Legs compared to the Rexs but I run 17x8 on mine with it dropped on Tein H-techs and it looks mint.
I've got compliments by so many members here it's crazy.
I'm running the 17x8 Torques with a 225/45 tire. I like the 17's more myself because I was able to run a stiffer sidewall with better traction tire then if I ran 18's.
If you plan to use lowering springs for at least summer mode (I run my Teins for summer and stock springs for winter) then go with the 17's IMO.
The G-Force was actually my first pick too but decided to go with the torques. You can check pics of my car in the vbgarage.

I know with lower springs on the LGT and 18" wheels there is always the concern of tires rubbing on the fenders, depending on the profile. I would assume with a 17" wheel and even a fattier tire there would be zero concern of rubbing.

I have no rubbing what so ever and as you can see in the pictures of my car I am pretty close. In the front I have about a finger and a half from the tire to the outside of the fender body (not the actual plastic fender interior which would probably be a good 3 fingers distance). Near the same in the rear as well.
Basicly go with what you think would look good and also based on your plans. If you're sure about doing some suspension lowering (i.e. coilovers, springs) then go with a wheel that is going to compliment that. If not then you may need a larger wheel in order to eliminate that depressing wheel gap that is so apparant in subaru vehicles.

*Waste* of money for 17s? Definitely not. You'd be going to a wider, lighter rim, a short enough sidewall to have loads of fun in the twisties, and enough sidewall left to keep a stock-ish ride comfort with some rim protection. No worries about rubbing with those... check subydude.com or the website of one of the US Rota dealers... anything 17x8 with a 44-50mm offset should have loads of clearance as long as you aren't going with anything wider than a 245-width tire(though you may have to roll the fenders a touch for 245s, especially out back). I'd go with bronze or gunmetal... the silver is pretty plain.
You get props for doing handling/braking first, btw.

save your pennies and get coilovers. then you have adjustable ride height! 18's with the right rubber and you'll be golden. i know i'm payin the price for the low low ride of my car with the 18's with the wrong offset(42) so i have to have my FRONTS rolled. rear sits up higher on my car, and i never have backseat passengers.

Heheh,
Yes, my favorite wagon, I know, I know.
I didnt say it, but I would say the majority of the members on LegacyGT.com who go aftermarket go 18. Its just a cult. Im all for performance over looks, BLING IS LAST.
I like those wheels alot.

Mmmmm soo tempting.
Must go to Vegas and waste my money there first. Maybe I should get wheels first, maybe I should pay down my credit card(sssssssss) first.
Maybe I should stop listening to my conscience, and listen more to the internet?
