Well, I don't see Manchester Subaru listed on the review page, so I'll toss one up.

I'd like to start of by saying I've always had horrible experience with dealerships and dealership service departments. I've never heard of my close friends say a nice thing about a dealership either, least of all their service departments. But Manchester Subaru...they're good people.

I bought my car there, got the warranty extended a little, and of course the "free inspections for life". Pretty standard fare for sweetening a purchase without cutting too deep into the numbers for the dealership. I was comfortable with the price of my car, and the NADA & KBB numbers were close enough that I felt at ease.

When I picked up my car, it was completely detailed, as you would expect. The recon job they did on my car was impressive- not a trace of a previous owner anywhere. Carpets were like new, every crease and crevasse was immaculate.

I've had all of my service done at Manchester Subaru, from Level A oil change and rotate tires to my 60K mile service. I've never been anything but satisfied with the service, and I've never felt they have tried to drum up business by replacing anything that didn't need it. The staff in the service area has also been great every time I go in. In all, a nice group of people that don't want to rip customers off...and these days that's really welcome.

Finally, I've had after market parts put on a few times. Down-pipes, cat-backs, and things of that nature. They charge a bit more than most garages in the area (around $90/hr I think), but I've always been more than willing to spend my money there. They've done great work so far, they are quick and thorough, and it's nice to go to a place that appreciates tasteful mods. They've also helped me out in a pinch when my cat-back came before my downpipe and didn't quite mate up properly. They did what they could, let me know, offered to do whatever I wanted them to do, and showed me what to look out for.

I'm certainly capable of doing all the things I've had Manchester Subaru do for me- Oil changes take minutes, rotations take a few more. Major work is enjoyable for me to do myself, so it really takes a lot for me to send my car off to be worked on by someone else. And yet, I've never regretted taking her to Manchester Subaru. Just a great bunch of knowledgeable people that are a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks.

i bought my sti there and i really couldnt afford it at the time and the owner personally himself went out of his way to lower the price of the car and help me sell my other car that i could not get enough money from trade in on to help me get it. i have worked at dealerships since i was 16 and i have never seen anyone else be as great as that place

2) They replaces my turbo under warranty with no issues even me being cobb stage 2

3) Got a great deal on my 30,000 maintenance and saved over $200.00 from them becasue they price match another dealership for the work

4) Going down this Monday to get my yearly free inspection sticker from them hoping it goes smooth becuse I'm cobb stage 2 catted..... (keep ya guys updated)

Yeah I was full stage 2 with cobb intake and catted Helix turbo back and of course cobb reflash and they covered it all under warranty with ni=o questions asked...

Well I'm glad to here that my inspection should go fine then (I am catted with the Helix downpipe)

UPDATE: 8-10-09

After today I can truely say I am DONE with Manchester Subaru....

I had my appointment today at noon for my inspection. After a 3o minute wait I had a tech named Mike refuse to put a sticker on my car because of the exhaust system. I told him and Apryl that the car has a catted dwon pipe, a resonator and muffler and I wanted to seein writing that why he felt the need to fail the car. I was told that Mike was done with my car and wanted nothing to do with it. I once again requested to see it in writting that my car would not pass legally. After waiting another 45 minutes they said they were going to get a DB meter and measure how many DB's my car was..... Now after 2 hours there they finally came up with that the car would pass legally with the exhaust system and all of the sudden I failed because of a 1/4 inch tear on the passenger side wiper blade and I had a nut and bolt that came off to a flange for the midpipe that was gone. The funny thing that was NEVER brought up till 2 hours later till I won the "failing for a to loud of an exhaust theroy". So they were just not picking to find some reason to fail me....... We after a 2 hours deal with them that is enough that they have lost my business for now and 4 ever. I will no longer take my car there for service nor will I purchase another car from manchester subaru again. I intend to spread the word about my mishap by internet and writing SOA a detailed email about everything. The biggest thing that had me upset was the attitude that I received from the tech( mike) that was carried through the service writer Apryl that said he was done with my car and refused to touch it. My dad works at concord Nissan where I brought the car to where I got 2 new wiper blades and fixed the nut and bolt for the midpipe for lets just say a great price. It's a same to give people and attitude and then FIND a reason to fail someone just to prove a point of power..... Thank you Manchester Subaru and i done with your business!!!

Really sorry to hear that. Have you tried calling the service manager over there? Or the General Manager? I'm sure they can't bring you back if you're that annoyed, but if you feel you have an honest gripe, you might want to address it.

I was failed because of my loud exhaust. Admittedly it is very loud, and I think it's technically legal. I just dropped in my silencer so they didn't have to deal with questions from the authorities if I get an over zealous cop pulling me over, and I didn't have to argue how loud it was.

Naturally, it's back out now.

^ its a good point since you were nervous before you even went in.

It stinks that you felt they were swinging you around in circles about the reasoning, but its there license on the line, and to get a free inspection with them you have to be completely stock. They are normally a very mod friendly dealer. We only bring 1 out of our 3 cars there to get inspected.

Jaketips42
08-11-2009, 01:33 PM
I talked to the tech that looked at it originally. He said he didn't even flag you in the system or even fail you. Which is a huge favor in itself. He should have failed you for the very low suspension and loud exhaust. He handed the car off to another tech after dealing with it. The other tech found that the exhaust was not hung very well aside from the bolt.

Jaketips42
08-11-2009, 01:38 PM
We also did you a huge favor by warranting your turbo that I pushed for. The thing that bothers me most is that you said you were going to spread the word about the negativity among other forums and whatnot. When it boils down to it. There is no need for that.

I usually let stuff like this go, but Jake and I personally got your Turbo replaced at no cost to you. AFTER you told me you were stage2.
You were going to spend who knows how much money on the used turbo you had sourced and labor for install.
I thought I had made it clear that there are two techs in particular that you should ask for eveytime you bring your car in for Inspection or warrantee, beacuse of the modifications that do NOT pass NH state inspection. I even told you to give us a heads up when you were coming in, and we would make sure either Chris or Eric was available to work on your WRX.

My Car, Your Car, Jake's car, and nearly everyone on this Forum has a Subaru that should not Legally pass inspection in NH, but usually we make it work one way or another. If for some reason we can not pass it like FREAK's Legacy, the customer usually understands that their Subaru is modified and does not go around bad mouthing the dealership that was only following the NH DOT guidelines.

I think the "F" audi avatar is a pic of Eric sniffing a pickle. :lol:This is really like beating a dead horse I feel.....

I was upset with the after findings of the wiper blade and the midpipe hanger that keep the exhaust more snug to the under carriage of the car to fail the car not the exhaust sytem that failed the car.. I do not know everyone on this forum but if this is Mike Chrisstoffels please check a few posts up and see what I just said about you before now reaming me also a ass........

I am not attacking you, but what you wrote. You did come in a few times to tell me how happy you were and to thank me for getting your turbo covered, so i was surprised to hear about this at 10pm last night from Jake. I understand you are upset, but did you think about maybe calling me or Jake up to vent, or to possibly fix the situation before you decide it would be best to vent on the forums? I hold no ill will towards you and I would like to think that one small misunderstanding over a free state inspection will not keep you from using our dealership. I just want to share my experience at Manchester Subaru. I was given a wrx rear sway by someone I know, so I went to Manchester Subaru and Jake helped me out by finding and ordering all the necessary brackets to fit the WRX rear sway bar onto the GC platform. I also had some mangled drain plugs from the tranny and rear diff, from a recent fluid change, and Jake helped me find those too. He ordered the parts Friday and they came in Monday. I'd recommend anyone who needs some Subaru specific parts to either call up Manchester Subaru or drive right over and see the guys in the parts department.

Just another plug for how great Manch Subaru is. Bought the car from there about a month ago, and had an awesome experience. Ever since I got it I've had some vibration issues in the front end. Took it in today (after already having taken it to my buddy's shop), and had it looked at.
First off, Eric is friggin awesome. He did an awesome job figuring out the issue and getting it taken care of. Best of all, while I know they had no obligation to cover it for me since it's a month since I bought the car, they did. Not a single penny out of pocket.
Now that's awesome customer service.

Eric - Thanks again man, can't thank you enough.
Mike - Thanks for the extremely useful info we discussed today. Just need some spring weather to get it tuned now :D
And I don't think she's on here, but Apryl has to be one of the coolest service writers ever.

Wow! looks like there hasn't been any recent reviews of Manchester Subaru lately. Let me just start out by apologizing for not posting more. I am more of a lurker than I am a poster. (I guess it's because I don't want to sound stupid.). So let me start out by acknowledging a few people that I know or met from here or Manch Subaru. Shout out to DHGurs, Jaketips42(miss ya bud!), shrtbxr22 (who I just met through pm. Thanks bud.) and Joey Labranche my sales guy! All great people and helped out a bunch. So story goes that I send out an e-mail to Manchester Subaru looking for a new WRX and to trade in my 02' WRX. Thinking that my credit was crap I figured I would give it a try. What have I got to lose, they tell me no and I move on.:) About an hour after the e-mail goes out I get a response from Joey. after a few more he calls me and we had set up a time for me to come in. He tells me that things aren't as bad as I thought they were. They were actually pretty good! Rock on! So I show up and we talk and about an hour later Joey says " Hey Ron, what color do you want. Your all set, let's do the paperwork and get you rolling!!!! They paid off my loan on the 02' without even blinking. I thought to myself, I must be dreaming! Nope. I walked out of the dealership with the biggest smile on my face as I was the proud new owner of a 2011 WRX! Thanks to Joey and all of the staff at MANCHESTER SUBARU for a five star job well done!!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!:D

This isnt really a Manch Subaru review but.....one our customers at my work (local garage in westford ma) has an 04 STI that is decently modded. The car had been to another shop down in norwood for a turbo upgrade due to the fact that we could not tune the ecu after all was said an done. After a REALLY bad experience with the previous shop, the car has come to us for repeat repairs do to the "hacking" of the other shop. Anywho, we were upgrading the injectors in his car when we come to find out the previous shop installed top feed injector connectors. (the injectors we pulled out were side feed PE injectors) In a rush to find a quick solution so the customer could get their car back, I logged on an PMed Eric (after previously reading he was a tech at Manch) Within minutes I had a text message in regards to my need for new connectors. Figuring he had a decent amount of spare parts I figured he was my best choice. Although he didnt have what we were looking for, the fast response and instant will to help out a stranger makes him a good guy in my book. Thanks again for the help!

I see we have "guys" on the service side, but do we have angels on the sales side, too? I think we are going to be getting my wife into a new Leggy and I think I just found where we are gonna buy it because of this thread. :)

Feel free to PM me with info. :)

Nothing new to report. Gary is great to deal with and Eric is a nice Mexican mechanic.

So that was Gary I talked to briefly outside the dealership a couple Saturdays ago. I REALLY like the look of those STIs.....

+1 for Gary being good to work with. I've also had good experiences with other sales reps there..

The service department on the other hand is/was complete garbage. I haven't been there in a year+ but if Jeff is still running it, I assume nothing has changed.

I put up with a couple years worth of 3 hour oil changes and other annoyances because I assumed I'd be taken care of if I ever had any real issues. Wrong.

Strike 1:
Slight clutch vibration in my '09 when the car is warming up still. Goes away after the car is warmed up.. I asked Jeff to look into it. He said he would and call me. He never calls. I ask him about this every time the car is in for service. He always says he has a call in. I know he is just bsing me hoping i'll go away. I never pressed the matter but it always bothered me.

Strike 2:
2010 Forester moonroof issue. They drop the headliner and replace the springs that pop up the wind deflector. Fixes the issue but there's grubby black hand prints all over the light grey headliner of our 1 month old car. Nice...

Strike 3:
Boot on my '09 from I/C to TB was incorrectly installed at factory. After the 3rd visit (also to install SPT boost gauge and having my car 4 days) they told me 'that noise is normal'. Also the gauge was crooked, my cluster bezzle was not properly reinstalled and there was a fresh gouge in my dash. The next dealership I took it to fixed it in 30 minutes.

I still think it's funny I was a loyal customer there for like 3 years, suddenly stopped going there and never got a phone call or anything..

Where do you service your Subaru now? I also have been completely dissatisfied with manchester subaru....particularly the service department and the completely retarded advisors. Jeff actually has been thorough and interveined with the issues i was having, but i also cant keep putting up with the drop off work and things not getting fixed/finished and having to come back!

Had Eric check out an issue I was having with some engine plumbing (factory) and manchester got me in right away. I requested Eric because he's familiar with my car and I've seen his work -it's always first rate. Anyway, to make a long story short, Eric ripped half my engine bay out, fixed the issue, and had it all back together in no time at all. I was very glad for how Manchester Subaru was willing to allow me to choose my preferred mechanic, which is a little outside the norm. I'll def go back again. Recommended.
