So, last time i put summers on, i got a nail in my tire, but got lucky and it was just a tiny one and didn't go through. Now, it looks like i have a roofing nail stuck in the back tire. I know you can patch them, but it's right on top of the tread and that makes me wonder if it'll hold up to hard corning. I have 615's on the car right now. Should i try getting it patched?

certain peformance tires with Z rating or better should not be patched. But if its a small hole and you really really dont wanna buy a new one. it will save you aloot of cash.

I'm going to try and get it patched over at VIP tomorrow. Jack said to bring it down and he'd take a look at it. From what i've read over at NASIOC, it's fixable...

just an update. I had this patched over at NTB in Newington. They used some really nice patches and holds air great! they even took out a different old style patch job and replaced it with a new one at no additional cost. I also got another massive nail in a different tire and had it patched there also. I believe it was around $25 to get it dismounted, patched, mount and then balanced.

Nice! Always worth going with the patch before buying a whole new tire. Glad to hear you had success.

Unless it's a huge hole, not on the side wall, and you don't drive insane speeds patching works. Oh and by insane speeds I mean like 140+ for long periods. Just my opinion. Glad the patchs worked well.

Stop driving around construction sites.

Glad to hear it got fixed up good and cheap. I've hit a few over the years myself and I know the feeling of, "Oh crap, I hope I can fix this instead of buying a new set of tires."
