All right guys I did the deed and ordered my sways. I am thinking screw the springs and just pony up and get coilovers. What are my options??? Hmm... Save my money and blow out my struts or go in debt for the coilovers. You guys tell me, is it worth getting coils or would springs do the trick???

Like I mentioned in the other thread. I don't recommend springs on the 08/09 Impreza lineup. I would save up and buy a good set of coilovers. In the meantime run your struts with the swaybars. I think you will be plenty happy with that setup...for a few months anyway ;)

I ran stech springs for like 5k miles then blew one on the front stock struts. I bought tein coilovers from there. You could do spring but I would suggest you just spend the money on new struts at the same time. It will save you from taking it apart twice

To those that didn't read the other thread:
The 2008/2009 Impreza's have a different suspension setup that the previous years. The back damper is extremely travel limited. Lowering the car just make the problem worse. The 2009 spring / damper setup is decent, but the 2008 one is horrible. Either way I do not recommend putting lowering springs on an 08/09.

Only comment from me will be go with Coils and if you don't like it THAT stiff get helper springs to soften the bumpiness out. Coilover are the way to go. And spend money on the good ones. I had Megan's on my OBS. Good deal for the money but I wish I had spent the little extra. Also wish I had tuned them better cause I ended up selling them after I took the car off teh road for swap. Yeah I cant wait for the sways to come in!!!! I ended up getting the 24mm adjustable front and 22mm adjustable rear with the bushing brackets. I can get away with using my stock endlinks for now right???

Did you run your car in the winter with the megans??? If so how well did they hold up?

Just remember, if you get coilovers you may want to consider swapping the stock setup in for winter. VT roads with salt, sand, and frost heaves would put a beating on them.

If I go the coilover route I am considering buyin a winter beater. To much a hassle to swap everything out for the winter. But on the bright side I'm saving the millage on my rex!!!!:D

Deff agree its pretty fun when you go out and hit some powder with ur front wheel drive buddies. While they are working real hard keeping their car sideways I just give mine a little more gas and I stick my had out the window and wave as I'm sideways in front of them. Actually now that I think about it, I dont think they can see through all the snow I kick up!!!

BC Racing. cost effective as well as reliable (more then their old setups).
Others sets of coils will run $1200+, unless your a BIG autoX or track guy...I cant see spending that money just to drive on, .02

I was actually just gonna ask about the bc coilovers. I found the bc br series for $999.00. I just never heard much about them but it looks like they develop a lot of subaru coilover kits.

Not when you have a $500 Subaru that you don't mind throwing into a snowbank when you screw up that pendulum

Well guys I got the BC's in and balanced and I dont think its for me. I love the look and it handles great but like I said its not for me. I think I would have been happier with a spring rather than a coilover. If I went the spring route at least I still coulda drove my car in the winter :unamused:

Just keep your stock parts and swap before winter. Its easy...

like tom said, keep your stock setup. They literally bolt in and out in about 15 mins each.

Roads in Bennington Vermont are ****. You can feel a piece of straw on the road with those things. Sorry, Nick, I had to say it.

It does corner great though. And my strut wasn't fked cause of donuts, some a-hole didn't tighten up a bolt on the strut + sway bar. (me = dumb ass)

I would swap my stuff out in the winter but the toe and alignment would be all outta wack. I had my friends friend whos one the top engineers of patrone racing balance and tune my setup. The setup he did to get my c/o setup took about 11hrs to do not including the drive to CT and back to VT :P

Well guys I'm staring to like the ride of my car more and more each day. I gave my friend a ride today and he said that my rex rode like his relatives Porsche. I guess thats a good thing when my $25000 car handles just as good if not better than a $50000 Porsche

anyone have a good resourse to find coilovers and srprings for your car. to lower and perform. what to look for and how far my money can go.
Umm I have heard good things about swift springs as far as ride and price. Tein seem to provide the biggest drop. The bc coilovers are priced right and importimage has them for 999 dollars right now I believe

I was unsure when I got them cause I never driven a car with c/o's before but now after getting used to them I love them. I have been driving my forester for the past 2 weeks and I hate how it handles lol. I drove my dads xt back from PA a few weeks ago and the car felt naked and not connected to the road. It made me realize I invested my money in the right place. I have my father convinced to get the BC's once he gets caught up on some bills. :D

The BC's are very simple. Pull out your strut and spring and throw in the coilover
