Looking into a borla header here soon maybe a hfc at the same time. Gotta replace front cv's and replacing both rear calipers due to a broken slide bolt. How's everyone elses cv's holding up? This is my second time replacing them thanks to remanufactered crap! Going all new this time hopefully no worries after this.

I've got some Borla UELs and a Strommung cat waiting to go on my car, if I ever get my muffler from Gruppe-S anytime soon.

i think i've done front cv's on every subaru i've ever owned.... never twice though.

borla headers are a good choice. I've got a set on my RS along with a stromung cat and i love it. check out boxer4racing.com for the cat...

thanks for the link. Cvs are done, done them so often it's a walk in the park now. Worst part is that my throw out bearing is squealing bad, so time for a clutch I suppose. Going with a lightweight fly at the same time, putting off the header for now. I am thinking exedy stage 2. Any comments? Thanks guys.

Has anyone decided to match up a NI style exhaust to their Borla header? I think I'm going to get a Tsudo N1 exhaust along with the Borla replicas.

Cable clutch or hydraulic? if its cable and the throwout bearing is squeeling, you prolly dont need a clutch, you prolly need a transmission like me because the case is worn, new clutch too and it still squeels like a motha. The only thing you can do besides replace the tranny is get the upgraded bearing/bushing kit, but it will still squeel eventually. This is the whole reason im looking for a donar with hydraulic clutch...

Hydraulic clutch. It's got 145xxx on it which really ain't **** but who knows how it was pounded before my posession. I'm having my mechanic do it for me seeings how I helped him build his new garage, so I'll be getting a wicked deal just need to get parts.

idk about the tsudo though.....

my friend had one for his teggi and it fit and sounded like crap.... the real apex-i was a lot smoother sounding.

I havnt heard one on a subaru yet. the teggi is my only real tsudo experience.

look for the apex-i on ebay. i paid $450 for mine brand new

actually its not that strange, i was told by a master-tech that the kit doesnt last as long on a cable clutch setup :unamused:, but they have had good luck with them on hydraulic apparently

and yes im waiting til it either pops, or i can afford to buy my donar

Lol I'm still rocking the squeal until I have money enough to get it. Going to get my clutch and fly all at the same time. Just gotta save my money to get it. Thinking exedy stg 2 and exedy fly or ACT HD and ACT fly. Now with act should I go with the prolite or the streetlite fly?

I've heard good things abotu both brands. I'm personally going with the ACT clutch and flywheel though because the specs for HP/TQ capacity was better suited to what i'm planning for my car. Mike H (subyfr3ak) has the act setup as well and he likes it a lot.

The weight of the flywheel really depends on what you are planning to do with the car... I've heard the lighter ones are a little harder to daily drive but give you more WHP.

It should be relatively easy, wish I could help but super busy lately, I think where the manifold meets the cat is a pain in the ass, I was going to take a look at my cats but then I realized I couldn't get a bolt out on the flange. It's in a terrible spot. Someone else will have to give some insight on this one... Good luck!

it is fairly simple. my car had like 170k on it when i did mine and i managed to get it appart without breaking any bolts.

the spring bolts between the cats and the mid are a mofo though.... you shouldnt need to mess with those if you are just doing a header though...

ya shouldnt be a problem. i did mine in my driveway with the car on ramps. the only thing i'm going to suggest is that you do an oil change at the same time and use some sort of a filter with a grip on it (like fram). The headers make it real hard to get at the filter after and if the one thats on there is stuck ur probably screwed.

probably not, you might be able to but i think it would be worth it to take it back off. you wet the wrap then it takes about 2 days for it to dry out completely before you spray it with the high temp paint to seal it. if you stuff a heat gun in the end where the cats are supposed to go and leave it on high the wrap dries in a few hrs though... it only took me 3 sets of headers to get pissed enough to come up with that strategy. :D
