We're still plugging away at getting the new website design and back-end running. We've seen the design and it looks FANTASTIC! The shopping cart software that we'll be running is much more dynamic and feature-filled. What does that mean for all of you? Here's a small list of items that will make your shopping experience better at SubaruWRXparts.com when the site goes live:

- One step check-out process.
- Anonymous check-out, in other words you won't be required to create an account on the website if you don't feel like it.
- Coupon Codes!
- Better categories!
- Quicker navigation to the part, no more navigating through 5-6 areas, trying to make it so the customer only has to use 3-4 mouse clicks to get to any single product.
- Homepage advertising for specials and sales!

And a whole lot more that I'll keep to myself for the moment.

The website is nearing completion with the development company, then it will be put in our hands here. We'll have to migrate the current products and customer databases over. Then we plan to overhaul the products, going through each one to ensure part #'s are 100% accurate, moving them to categories that best suit the parts purpose, and also ensuring our pricing is up to date! We estimate this process taking a couple weeks but we'll be working at getting this website live to all you folks ASAP!

Also stay tuned because with the release of the new website we will also be running some special promotions!

Thank you for your patience!

-Nick

Does anyone actually read the front of the subybucks where it says that they are valid for Subaru OEM Parts, Accessories and Service?

Rennick takes takes them for non-Subaru parts.

Yes, but I know dealers that break the rules too.

Those dealers that take them for non-subaru items are risking not being reimbursed for them. I know of a couple dealers that have burned by taking them for non-subaru items.

We're making progress! Roughly 700 more products left to sort through. We're double checking each product for application, part number, cost, and weight so it's taking a little bit longer than expected. It will be well worth the wait, I assure you.

We're looking at another 2-3 weeks before we can go live. I wish it was sooner and I had planned for sooner, but we want to make sure the products we have listed are all accurate as can be.

We're looking good on the website right now. We're feverishly adding parts to it every day and nearing completion. I expect to have 90%+ of the parts added to the new website by the end of this week. Next week I'll be cleaning up some loose ends around the rest of the website. We're crossing our fingers that we'll be ready to migrate the domain over to the new server the week following WBM!

Thank you for all the patience thus far, this has been a very big project but a necessary one. We're just as excited (probably more excited) as everyone else to get this thing up and running to better serve all our current customers and hopefully drive in some new customers.

With the new website also comes new products! We're nearly ready to start offering 2 more complete product lines that we never offered before.

Strap yourself in, stay tuned, and prepare yourself because the release is just around the bend now!

It's actually tomorrows tomorrow...err...wait...ya.

still looks like the old site to me!:unamused:

And this is why you work in the specific IT field you work in instead of web administration ;)

trickydiks a liar-whore!

I am not...I mean...he is not!

It is going to take roughly 24-48 hours for the new website to appear because of DNS propagation (http://webhosting.devshed.com/c/a/Web-Hosting-Articles/What-is-DNS-propagation-and-why-does-it-take-so-long/) (this link is for eb50, he needs a little education in this field ;) ). Our current website is hosted with one company, the new one is going to be hosted with a different (local) company which is why we have to update the DNS paths hense the 24-48 hours of wait time for it to appear.

The DNS swap was supposed to occur last night but I'm still waiting on confirmation that this step was taken. If not I'm sure it will be performed this morning, none-the-less it wil probably by another day or two before the web address starts routing to the new website and not the old one.

How about a direct IP :P

Oh and I got a chuckle on http://209.68.51.211/

The GLTD's are not showing the new DNS yet, so it's going to be a while longer me thinks

I don't have the direct IP yet :(

Plus I wouldn't want anyone going to it until they can type in the URL because once they can do that it means we can load up the SSL certificate. Don't want anyone ordering on an un-secure website and we can't secure it until the DNS is swapped over.

Set TTL to 1 minute... that solves propagation issues

Subaruwrxparts.com
06-10-2009, 05:54 PM
you may also want to look adjusting your TTL mr web admin to speed up propogation

http://digg.com/linux_unix/How_to_Speed_Up_DNS_Propagation_2

No thanks, we're good to go the way we are.

No need to repeatedly post the same picture just to dirty up a thread.

The reason we selected a slower propagation is because we needed to start the transfer but allow time to move the 'orders' database over for minimal loss of information. We could of avoided this by doing it during an off-peak hour but unfortunately the web-hosting/design company we're working with wouldn't be available for support should something go wrong.

So there you have it.

Patience is a virtue.

Thread closed until launch.
