View Full Version : Driving Habits?

I am curious what others driving habits on here are. I know I for one try to be as courteous and responsible as possible; but ever since I got the XTI, I do occasionally catch myself driving like an ass-hat and have to reel it in and give myself a talking to.
Anyone else?

I have a little guy on my right shoulder in red and another on my left shoulder in white. They both have about equal wins and losses.
Red guy wins when there are no other cars around. White guy wins when driving around the city.
I rarely speed these days on the highway (seven speeding tickets will do that).
Lately, I've been trying to calm down and force myself to smile in instances where other MA holes would generally scream and give someone the finger. It's just not good for blood pressure, especially when frustrating road asshattery happens every day. I'd rather live longer and happier. (Another reason why I've decided to not get super tones. I'd rather just use my horn less grow my patience.)
Generally speaking though, if no one else is near by I can turn down right reckless.

i am a good driver and tolerant, but it only goes so far. my biggest thing is people that wont get out of the left lane. i am all nice until i have to get someone out of my way...then, yeah, ass-hat describes it.
i do have to talk myself down every once in a while as well...

I completely agree with the left lane crap. People who go like 10 or more under piss me off also. and any random d-bag that yells "do a burnout!"

^^How about anybody on the side of the road wanting you to wheelie on your bike? Like when I was mid corner today, and had a car about 30 feet in front of me. Oh yeah guy, I'm just gonna pop it up, right now, for you.
I am really big on lane discipline, you know, because its called a "passing" lane, not a "sit in it because you are driving your tahoe all by yourself to the mall and don't feel like moving over" lane.
Blinkers!!! Why do people not use blinkers!!! I blinker into my driveway on a dirt road with only one other house on it. It's not hard, and if you do it all the time like I do, it becomes habit.
I also don't speed much on the highway, like bigbobchamp with the tickets, I've slowed it down. I do however follow people that like to speed, at a safe enough distance to let cops nab them first sometimes, lol.

when I lived in NH my drving was good.. I would let people go infront of me.. drive the speed limit (most of the time).. blah blah blah.
Now that I live in Mass.. I could care less about letting people go infront of me.. I speed.. I yell at people.. I have become a Mass-hole!

+1... although I do like telling people to do wheelies, but they are usually driving civics.

No kidding about the bikes, I get kids in Bellows Falls making the universal "do a wheelie" hand signal all the time. Right, like I'm going to pop a wheelie at 50mph through a densely populated town. :palm:
But on my bike, I usually ride pretty hard through the corners if there are no cars around. On the straight, boring highways around here, I stay around 6-7mph over the limit due to a bikes correction factor, so its actually 4-5mph over.
I noticed that the faster my SRT-4 gets, the more I slow it down. I won't say I never punch it on the interstate or on empty straightaways, but 95% of the time I'm driving 5 over wherever I go (except through town, the speed limit is fast enough in town).
It's only when I hang out with other car guys that I'll get a little rowdy, especially if they have fast cars too. But again, its always on straightaways with nobody around the car.

ever since my accident when I was 16-17 an totalled my 96 lexus es300 ( my baby) even though it was a grandpa car. I loved it.
I was told by the sheriff, that I was lucky to be alive, let alone not be injured. I was run off the road, my rear end went into the ditch, ripped off my rear wheel, the hub STILL bolted to it. An blew out my rear window an passenger door, went airborne came done an my rear end was going where my front end used to be. Scariest moment of my life so far. It was really nascar ****.
Needless to say. I drive fairly cautiously but Ill let her rip once in awhile. Gotta burn that carbon build up off.
I thought Subarus were for young people...you are all old farts. I live my life a quarter mile at a time!!
LOL...just kidding. I drive so slow now its ridiculous...maybe its because I'm getting old or maybe because I realize that I don't need to use all the power all the time. Although it was almost overnight that I became concious of speed after I got 2 tickets in 1 summer.
On the streets...whether on the bike or the WRX I am never using even 1/2 of the vehicle's potential...It's kind of sad really. I was wondering the other day if my bike will do a power wheelie (no clutch) and I have to report that I couldn't even get the RPMs high enough to do so without speeding and I didn't want to speed...LOL.

the big thing down here is the fool in the left lane drives slow in front of you with traffic in the right lane and speed up atleast 10 mph when the right lane opens up to keep from getting passed...and when they come up to another car in the right lane...you guessed it they slow back down.
i do have fun though...if you just switch lanes and speed up a little that idiot in front of you mashes it and takes off thinking you are trying to pass them.

i try my best to keep it under mach 3. most of the time i dont pay attn. and look down and see that im up near 85 and then back it down. well 6 speeding tickets later i finally got the message and decided to slow the **** down...
i find myself tossing her pretty hard into the corners late at night on a VERY twisty road.
i absolutely hate the idiots that ask for burnouts, and any car that thinks im just out to race. get the hint when u hammer down the first time and i dont give chase...

Since i've had the sti i've had more freakin GTI owners and kids with little civics try to race me and ride my a$$. It's annoying.
The SI drive keeps me from speeding all over the place although on and off ramps and the road gunstock is on (its super windy and hilly) causes me to exceed the speedlimit . Highways i really dont speed. Over 80 you can almost watch the needle on your gas gauge head towards Empty.

Haha, I see this too. It's funny in a sad way.
