So I swapped out my dated brake pads with some ceramics. From the friction side, they look like they didn't need replacing that badly, but the other side tells the story.

i have sitting in my garage, waiting to be installed, Raybestos ceramic pads and replacement rotors, rebuilt calipers.
I've run the semi-metallics in the past, but im curious to see how the cermaics do

I got the ceramics because they were only $10 more than the basic pads, to I figure, why not. These are just basic ceramics for right now. I too am curious about ceramics, so I wanted to see what the basic ceramics did.

If you are not racing the car and doing it yourself do yourself a big favor and just use the cheapest pads and rotors available.
For that one emergency stop you might do one day it is all you need.

Nice, are you using the stock calipers? I have the plain calipers, but I've seen the one with the "Subaru" writing on them. What's so special about those?I work at a Raybestos retailer, i got them pretty cheap IMO

They have more pistons and take a larger rotor (WRX sized). They came on the JDM V3-6 STi's iirc. In 06 subaru started puting them on the WRX.

Oh yah, stupid mistake, I forgot to put in some anti-squeal in when I did these. The squealing was a little annoying.

I never bother with the anti-squel. I never end up with a problem.

For anyone wanting to use that anti-squeal ******, don't. It's crap. I pulled that stuff right now the next day and greased the insides like I should. I also touched up my calipers with some black caliper paint.

What pads did you get? just generic?
I had EBC red stuff ceremics, they were great until hard driving, then they got wicked heat soaked and took a little extra to stop
