Basically, I'm transfering schools next year and will be attending Connecticut College in New London. The area is RELATIVELY safe, but it is a college campus and it's also near New London, where crime does exist. Basically, I'm torn between several options involving my new sti and possibly buying another car. I'd like to hear some of your thoughts.

There are some advantages to getting a beater (real old Legacy like my old one?). Although I have to buy the car, I will most likely save on insurance without having to place full insurance on the STi. I will also save on gas money. The advantage to this option is that I won't risk any theft / vandalism occuring to the STi. I will also be able to keep the STi low milage (it's an 04 and only has 17k miles on it now!).

When i got my WRX, it was only about 4 months old and at at UNH and some douche bag decided to skip down the hoods of all the cars and dented up my hood pretty bad. After that i chose my parking there very carefully.

Definitely don't keep the STi at college... it's just asking for trouble; at some point it WILL get broken into or otherwise f'ed with. Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist for a '93-'95 FWD Impreza... nice ones can be had for under $1k, you'll get over 30mpg, and you'll never ever have to second guess where you park it.

well if I get a second car, I will need to store the one I'm not using somewhere other than home (not enough space). Storage near campus will probably cost the same as storage near home and if I store near campus, I will be able to have access to the car. so i think that would probably be a better idea.
