After driving for awhile I smelled something burning and pop the hood to see small amounts of black smoke burning off the cat and surrounding exhaust piping. It was not motor or tranny fluid nor does it have a sweet smell like coolant. I checked the power steering fluid and it was low so I threw some lucas into it. Still leaking a few weeks later. Any suggestions?

Did you check your DOJ boot? Are you sure it's your pump?

I'm not entirely sure where it is leaking from. Between living on a muddy dirt road and the leak itself I can't locate where it is exactly. The boot does seem fine. I plan on changing the front struts soon so maybe I'll get a better look then. Right now I'm peering in to avoid the cold icy mud in my driveway.

Could be a valve cover leak too.

i had a problem with a p/s leak dipping on the manifold and cat. it was the upper seal in the power assit valve assembly. $20 and 3 hours of fun to find the bearing in it was shot. greased it up and slap back together. spray everything down. and try to pinpoint the leak
