View Full Version : Sagging corner. Spring or strut to blame more likely?

Okay the SVX is having a little limping issue suspension wise. Bent one of my stock 16's and had to swap on my 17"s till I get tires(tomorrow will be dealing with that) for the 18"s. Noticed the overly sagging rear pass suspension. I don't feel anything from the suspensions other than the basic too low feel with no other issues detected. Since I'm only seeing the drop and the turn specific feel from load shifts I would guess the Spring is finally wearing down and out. I just want to double check with everyone else that they agree that it's not the strut. SVX mean I have to order OEM struts that have been sitting on shelves for 15 years and have been known to leak or get Koni inserts and take the downtime to install them in the modified bodies. Springs simple not problem and cheap to do so i wont feel bad since I want to spend the money on GC coils later compaired to the cost to do the Koni work now.

Bounce test.
Push down on each corner and see how it reacts.

Springs. They support the weight of the car, not struts.

The strut is nothing more than a damper for the spring. SPRING 100%

My entire reason for thinking Springs. It's not looking as bad as it was the other day so I'm running as is till I can get a set of Coils fabbed up. Well they are done I just need to pay for them so that person can make a stiffer set for himself.

Waiting to hear from my buddy that imports stuff. See if he can find some JDM stuff. Hardly anything for the car in the US. All the good parts like any Jap Import is in JDM land. If not or if the price isn't good enough I'll be doing the Koni inserts and Ground Control coils.

I got space. And if I go with the Koni/GC combo I"ll be likely swapping a finished set at a buddies house in MA. I just need to remind him hand thread the lugs before tourqing. I lost a few nuts and two studs. Hopefully though I can find a good option from JDM land threw my other buddy who's looking into it for me,but we'll see.

Pending weather for Frriday I will be trying to get my new suspension for the SVX on the car. Will get pics of these BEASTLY things. The dampener piston shaft is insanely thick. Like an inch and a half.
