View Full Version : What are you running?

I don't see many posts in this part. I have a NA ej25, steadfast strong. Love it. All I have currently as a mod is a heavily modified CAI from PRM with a AEM synthec flow filter. Got rid of the MOO sound from the black box. An EXTREMELY better pull from 1k-3.5krpm, over the traditional CAI from PRM cobb tunning etc. Where I found most of PRM' CAI was a bit at the top end, an just made noise down low.

Im just curious what are you other NA' guys out there running? I realize most of the guys here are rex, or even sti guys.

Exhaust
Intake
Ecu
Etc.

Let us know!

I got some sort of short ram that came on the car, I also have an AEM dry flow filter i've been meaning to put on (waiting for salt to go away) and a Stromung axle back. My car makes noises that makes girls panties drop!

Got a InJen CAI that was on my 2.2 before I pulled the car off the road. Piping fit's just barely on the EZ30R TB so I'll be using it again when the car goes back on the road. Other than that I can't say I've done much in this department. Splitting my money between 2 cars and still paying the bills so yeah. I"ll have more to input after the Impreza's running again.

This coming winter I may likely throw in some cams and see where that gets me, maybe a reflash and some headwork to accompany them.

Yes, a noticeable nice change, although rather mild for my taste. I'd call it one step above the STi muffler swap.

So, a friend gave me an extended mid-pipe with a 02-03 resonator on it and that bumped the sound a little more. So now its approx 2 steps better than an STi muffler swap.

Ya i'm workin on doing a full NA build. I'm waiting to hear back on the headwork but i've already got the Rods and high compression pistons ready to go... Hopefully it will get finished this summer. my big issue is my brakes right now. My front rotors are warped to sh*t and i am in need of pads all around. I'm hoping to put it off long enough to get a new set of wheels so i can put my jdm 4-pot calipers on instead of buying more stock crap..... money, money, money :(

I have a 2000 impreza RS.
My only power mods are a K&N drop in filter and an STi catback.
I did not notice anything from the air filter, but it is nice to clean a filter after a few rally-x's rather than constantly replacing a paper one.
After I put the sti catback on I did notice that around 4300rpms the car still pulls. It used to feel really weak from 4500-redline.

I read somewhere that the ecu is doing something around that rpm. probably has something to do with open/close loop.

I also took off all the plastic air intake stuff, leaving only the air box on the throttle body. This with the exhaust makes it sound really nice.

on a related note...

I love the boxer rumble of a turbo impreza with stock headers and a good TBE!!

I do not like the way borla headers sound on our cars. It certainly adds "boxer rumble" but it is just not the same!

And borla headers don't fit with my skidplate on.

I have a dilema. EL or UEL on my EZ30R. It was already pretty much designed by Porsche to start with so I don't think I'd feel bad with loosing some of the rumble though I can't really remember if even at UEL that it's all that present. Worse case I become the NES Porsche Wagon! Kinda like Justin's "EVO".

I'm gonna start a thread with a poll. I'll let you guys know when it's up. I'm really stuck on Porsche and more power or RUMBLE CITY. Both are really awesome. Maybe I'll get the SVX in Rumble City and the Impreza on die Autobaun!

**** power. I would just strip the car to nothing weight wise and not only will the car be faster it will turn and stop better.

You mean so much that its bare like a rally car ready for a rollbar install? Ive always wanted to do that. But it maybe a little something to get used to.

it can spin faster than the engine knows what to do with, basically. and will send the timing all silly. if you get it tuned for advanced timing its do-able.

Prodrive Roundnose axleback - needs to go on,.
MS3 high flow midpipe - needs to go on......

the prodrive and HF midpipe. I need to get a 2.5 to 2.75 coupler before I put this on. probably going to have an adult (exhaust shop) do it since my exhaust is suffering from "Ive been on this ish for 12 years, leave me alone!" syndrome...

Let us know how you like the clutch. I've heard of people burning though even the STG 2 Exedy's rather quickly.

First mod is out of the way...I just did the FI grounding kit this past weekend, nice and easy. Everything feels a heck of a lot smoother now which is pretty impressive for such a small install! Looking to do a short shifter, shifter bushings and eventually a rear sway bar to really kick things off.

Engine is rebuilt, cams are in, clutch is in. The clutch feels really good so far. Way better than stock! its going back in the shop wednesday to get the valves adjusted to the right distance. The shop didn't see what i told them to space them too, so they just did it to stock 10 and 15. needs to be 6 and 8. so they are quiet a bit off. which leads to really bad lifter tick. kind of annoying. it should definitely have more power than what it does now because of the valves, so i hope it works!
