I bought a 1997 Impreza outback and brought it to Singer Subaru in Plaistow to order a new dipstick and get the thing checked out over all. The tech tried telling me it needed the water pump, oil pan and pump resealed. New separator plate and head gasket. Naturally right after this the kid offered me a hundred dollars for it and they offered to get me into something a little "newer".

Glad to know they can mistake a torn boot and some power steering fluid as all of those other things...idiots.....

By the way I'm still running on the same oil and coolant levels since I left there...

really huge idiots....

All three of those things just resealed? Just do it on your own. If a tech finds something that is leaking or needs replacement it is the service departments job to at least tell you whats wrong. They aren't always out to sell you everything but just want you to know that your car could be potentially in jeopardy. Obviously, yes, they want you to do it through them.
Those are also all items that a 1997 could EASILY be needing if normal service was not kept up with it.
