So I was coming from Torrington back to Woodbury/Bethlehem going back roads through Litchfield. There was a car in front of me & I didnt make a full stop at the stop sign coming into Morris (not that any of you know where I'm talking about.

Anyhow, I pull up to the 4 way stop and see the car in front of me was a cop. He turns left and then I make a full stop and go strait. As he isnt behind me I pick up some good speed to put some distance between he and myself in case he decides to turn around. In a little bit i begin to see headlights in my rear-view so I slow down to the speed limit before this car is anywhere near me (in case it is a or the cop). So it is and he pulls me over. says he had me doing 70 in a 40 but is going to give me 60 in a 40 so I dont get reckless driving. I never argue with cops I will deal with it in court so i took the 200 dollar ticket and went on my merry way (especially since I had had a few drinks that night and didnt want to test any boundaries with the po po 5-0.

Anyhow, there is no way he got me on radar at any time, and I slowed down when he was more than a half mile away from me & just coming around a bend. there is no way in hell he paced me. Im sure he knew I was going above the speed limit in some fashion as it took him some speed to get me in his sights but he had to have pulled those specific speeds out of his ass. Any of you have a better explanation of where he came up with those numbers, because I can not see any other way he could have gotten them. He did the pen thing with my eyes and probably could tell I had a drink or two maybe that was his way of "letting me off easy"

going to send it in not guilty and have my chat in court... just a PITA dealing with this stuff:unamused:

Radar doesn't work from behind, and unless he was pacing you there is NO WAAAAY he got your speed.

A portsmouth cop tried to tell me she got me at 48/35 from behind with radar.

I told her if she wrote me a ticket i'd have her badge.

you used to be a cop though, and you probably hadnt been drinking at the time right:lol:

I mean I was fine I had a few drinks checking out my buddy's new house but It was 1AM and I wasnt going to take the risk of getting dragged 20 minutes to the station and having my car towed even if I was going to be right, but I am def going to fight it in court. I came up behind them right near the 4 way stop as I was already slowing down, and they turned the opposite way as me, then came up from behind 3 minutes later. There is no way he can say he paced me before the stop of why wouldnt he have pulled me over, and I know there is no way he paced me with any accuracy after the 4 way.

what did the cop say when you said you would have her badge?

So I was supposed to send in the ticket by the 20th, but I was sick and forgot. Should I just send it out Monday and hope for the best?

Hey man I know just about where you got pulled over and I got pulled over THE SAME EXACT WAY with the SAME EXACT explanation. I was on flanders road about a year ago doing 50 in the 35 zone. An off duty cop was heading to work and pulled out from a stop sign and pulled me over and told me I was doing 70+ MPH. (It literally said 70+ on the ticket not even an exact speed.) :wtf: Long story short I got a lawyer and took it to court and got out of it with a charitable contribution. It just sucks because Bethlehem and Morris both have all state cops and they're all hard-asses. Good luck man.

Nice, there are some great roads up there near the larkin property and oxford airport. Good riding trails on the power lines and gas lines as well.
