Updated with actuall dates of events!
Not sure how many of you have been to these events before, I went to a few this past year and they were INSANE:spin: heres a link so you can check out more about it along with the schedule and also what you'd need to join in on the fun:D
http://www.hillclimb.org/
Hillclimb schedule as of right now...
Mt. Ascutney I: May 16 - 17, 2009
Burke I: June 13-14, 2009
Okemo I: July 11-12, 2009
Okemo II: August 01 - 02 , 2009
Burke II: August 22-23,2009
Mt. Ascutney II: September 19 - 20, 2009
Philo: October 17-18, 2009 (not confirmed)
I'll give you an idea of what it is. you pretty much race up the access road of a ski resort and try to get the fastest time. I know a few of you know Joey from Kalescustom, he won the events that I attended in his black swapped GC:D http://kalescustom.com/ he also built another bugeye that raced at the event!
heres a shot from inside his car at the Okemo event

any others thinking of giving this a shot? join me in the fun?
I remembered last year they had a first timer special price for a weekend. it was either $100 or $150 for fridays practice and saturday/sunday of racing:eek: you don't need a roll cage either if you run under a set time called the "breakout time". but if you go faster than the breakout time you geta worning, 2nd time you can't race at that location again till you install a cage.
the breakout time is usually super quick so I wouldn't worry about it :)

Dirt transisions? Looks like fun. I'd be down for that but not sure the SVX would do any good due to weight but the Impreza when I get it running will OWN THAT!

no dirt, 100% paved all the way up the courses:D

I just updated the OP with the actuall schedule dates and locations:)
I think my car might run pretty good...maybe...
each event is $150 for the weekend of balls out racing and if its your first event it'll only be $100:eek: that is not a typo

It might be paved, but some of those roads are very unimproved. I've driven up Okemo several times (hell, I work there) and it gets pretty damn bumpy towards the top. I don't know if my SRT could clear some of those potholes/bumps.

never thought of that, I've only been up about 5/8ths of the way up so I didn't know what the end of the road looks like...
I'm thinking I'll need some suspension work before I do this...
I helped out last year at one of the Okemo events and had a blast! I was on checkpoint 4 I think, right on a hard corner then a long strait so it was crazy watching the drive by at... 70+? that'd be my guess:devil:

your car will have to pass tech inspection, if you did race they'd probubly put you last so you wouldn't have anyone catching up to you. that would be bad if that happened

how long is it from top to bottom on most courses? cause like i figured they would like let one person finish before they started another person in case someone crashes.

nope, I think its every 30 seconds and the next car goes. thats why they have checkpoints, if theres a crash they tell everyone over the radio and they flag down all the drivers up the MT.

Ill figure out the specifics on what class you need the fire suit for (otherwise its just long sleeves) and I don't remember what type of fire extinguisher but must have a metal mount and bolted into the car.
Also you can just email my dad (Dave Burden) at: ermracing @ gmail . com (take out spaces)

i'll keep my personal hate for joey kale (and yes i know him personally and been to his shop before... well his old one) out of this. as i don't like starting crap for no reason
but hill climbs are very awesome very fun. I went 2 years ago to watch a guy who was driving a eagle talon at the time drive this thing.. its very cool.. i mean you can't watch the race from various points...you gotta watch it from the bottom of the hill.. and they generally only let you in if you know a driver (or atleast at the hill by vergennes vermont). Some cars i seen show up are custom built just for this purpose and have so much power they do awd burnouts right at the line its awesome! me and mike (subyfreak) knows another one of the drivers that do these.

Yes and no, Hillclimbs are not spectator friendly nessecarly for safety reasons but if you do want an excellent view of the racing all you have to do is work. This does mean showing up early in the morning like everyone else but you will get to be on the hill watching the racing up close + free lunch and recently at Ascutney worker prizes!
Oh and I believe you can check out an RV/boat shop for a metal fire extinguisher bracket.

I was told it was like $3 a person to spectate at the Acutney dates, can anyone confirm this?
Yes that is true. It's just the parks fee at the gate. Spectating isn't that great (compared to the easy alternative)
Basically if you want to spectate that really means you want to work...otherwise your just watching cars take off the line
Anyone can work (>18yrs old) you just need to contact the chair (my dad - Dave Burden) and arrive in the morning ready to have a good day!
So that means to you, Eric, I expect to see you on the hill Eric!
Oh working = sitting at a checkpoint with a great view of the racing
