in the last few weeks i have been noticing that every time i first start driving every time i turn the wheel there is a really nasty sound. Sounds kind of like a really squeaky rubbing sound or something. It doesn't matter if the car is warmed up either. every time i take the first few turns it makes the noise and then goes away. Starting to really annoy me.

I have no idea what is making the sound.

belt is slipping I would guess

the powersteering line that is under high pressure is a metal tube that doesnt flex. It does however turn into a rubber hose at the pump.

I wouldnt think it was the lines , you may just have a loose belt? get some belt dressing spray and use that. if it goes away its the belt, may need adjustment or replacment.

also if you have some mudflaps, your tires may be rubbing. Im having this issue atm with my new red flaps. Only on hard turn do i notice it though.

I would guess it's the belt its a higher mile car I think right?

does it make the noise if the car is not moving, or does it only happen if the car is in motion? If it doesn't happen when the car is stationary and you go from lock to lock it may be something more like an axle/diff noise. Also if the noise changes pitch with engine rpm its more than likely a pump/belt issue.

I'll take those off your hands if you need.

Also, on my VW back in the day, the clockspring used to make awful noises when I turned the wheel. That was definitely a sound you could tell was in the cabin though, just my .02 cents.

well i dont have mudflaps so rule that out. it makes the sound when the car is stationary and on and i turn the wheel. it goes away after driving for a mile or two.
What belt are we talking about? The timing belt?

Probably the power steering belt.

when is the last time the fliud level was checked? the pump will make a whinning noise when you turn if the level is low. try that.

My thoughts exactly! On my Bugeye I had the banjo bolt on the high pressure side come loose and leak before. Check that too.

But first the fluid level.

try to top off the powersteering fluid, you might have some air bubles in the system, I've had that problem before and it took a little while to get rid of them.

It's probably just a loose belt.

And the verdict was a steering belt needed to be replaced was it bulldog?

Mine's squeeling when I first start up. But goes away when it warms up. Guess its time for new belts...

Belts aren't too hard to do and relatively cheap.

It's almost worth paying a dealership to do if you want to spare yourself the bloddy knuckles
