I started with a STG 2 map from XPT tuning which uses open source tuning (Rom Raider). I highly recomend doing this as an alternative to Cobb as its much less expensive and has a stronger tune. All you need is a laptop and a tactrix cable. In my opinion this is where the STI was the most fun/reliable. After this it gets crazy.
I then upgraded the stock VF43 to the APS turbo with supporting mods. Since then I have been tuned by Dent Sport Garage 3 times. The first time I made 330whp and had to stop due to up-pipe leak, second time I made 350whp and had the same problem. The third and final time I made 390whp and had to stop because we maxed out the maf on my 65mm Intake.
After that I killed the stock motor so I bought a completly built long block from a member on nasioc and to make a long story short it didnt work out so well. Basicly The motor cost alot of money blew up at 2000 miles and I just paid it off today. I got it back in the end of 08. It blew January 09.
I was able to save the heads and I had my current motor built by M&A auto (lisbon,ME) which is still in the car. After the new motor was built and installed I made a few trips back to DSG for tuning but kept running into issues which ended my tunes short. These issues continued for almost this whole year. I finally have the car running mechanicaly well on a very rich low boost tune.
Meanwhile I recently bought a house the car was put aside. Hopefully within weeks, maybe a month or two it will be getting tuned and the story will continue................
Heres some video's I made when I was bored. Keep in mind the car is untuned and ignore the retarded titles my friend put them up for me.
