I just installed a greddy evo2 catback on my 06 Spec.b. Planning a stock STi UP and an Invidia catless DP in the not too distant future so i can go stage II...

I am running a TurboXS stealthback with Jet Hot heat coating on it, with the standard muffler. It currently has the high flow cat installed after the DP, but I just got the straight through pipe for it. :) I like the setup a lot, not too loud, great sound at WOT.

An '05 LGT that looks 100% stock; it sounds very close to stock also :devil: I even have 2 sets of stock rims with summer/winter rubber. A 20g, TMIC, WI, injectors, yada yada that I self tuned ;) Low 13's high 12s. Makes most people go :unamused: when I blow by them :rofl:

I love the sound of my exhaust, in fact, I wish it was a bit louder. Its much quieter than Jamies SPT catback on her car. It sounds great at WOT though, I will say that. I just got the race pipe to get rid of the last cat, I think it might have the growl and bit of loudness I am looking for. Tired of having my girls car sounding meaner than mine!

Ya, see, I dont have a really big intent on loud exhausts. I drive the car daily too much to have it be a pain in my ass. When I was in high school I would have a loud one, not know that Im an all grown up 25 year old.

I have Borla headers and catback on mine with a Randomtech High Flow Cat, but I don't think the cat works anymore so I used an MIL eliminator to shut up the check engine :)

Its really not that load. low RPMS >3500 its real quiet and yes the silencer is out too... but i like the sound of it. The heat paint or w/e the black paint is quiets it down quite a bit

Invidia catless downpipe, stock uppipe (for now), Apexi N1 muffler, custom 3" downpipe back exhaust done by Skip's Exhaust in Plaistow, NH.

Also, who makes a good catted uppipe that I could buy to replace the stock uppipe. I was thinking about staying catted. What does anyone recommend?

you don't want a cat in the up pipe. it can start to break up and go inside the turbo.
If you really want a cat get a catted down pipe or buy a high flow one and have skips weld it in.

just buy a used sti up pipe they come catless from the factory and can be had cheap.

oh ya make sure you have some sort of tune for the turbo back your running.

Thank you for your help. I personally didn't want to get a catted uppipe but since my downpipe is already catless, and that throws a check engine light, I would worry about having a catless uppipe set up with my stock downpipe (when inspection time rolls around) throwing a check engine light also. After doing all the work to take the old uppipe out and put a new one in, I wouldn't want to go through all that work over and over, you know what I'm trying to say? Hope that makes sense. I will also look into high-flow uppipes and the used STi ones.

I am running an HKS hi power, invidia dp, Gt spec uppipe, and a Maddads uel manifold. I did each part in stages cbe to tbe, to uel and uppipe. With each part added I noticed the tone of the exhaust get deeper and have more power across the power band. My car also had a smoother idle and faster turbo spool.

Wishing I got something other than the cobb....nice tone but if I did it again would have gone different. anyone else notice weird ticking/sowing machine like noise after putting on grimmspeed high flow X pipe...I noticed mine went away when I put the gt spec on.
