Slander! I would run them in a heartbeat if I had the style caliper. OEM pads for that cheap. Come on now. Being a parts guy you know he paid the right price.

Price me up some OEM 2006 WRX pads! Front and Rear ;)

Getting rid of the Brembos? No way LOL. Although I would consider an upgrade if the right deal came along. Like a monoblock 6 piston 14" rotor. :-D

What do you do there then? Sales? Service?

Ohhhh oh oh oh ok. I get it. Nate I am telling you, get some Raybestos fronts from me, you wont regret it. I only paid 45 bucks. I think Ted (NhSilverSTi) uses something close to that for his trac days.

not quite, i have used raybestos pads for the street which was perfectly fine right along with the "elcheapo" rotors i get. while i have used the elcheapo rotors on the track over the last 1.5-2 years, im now at a point where i have no choice but upgrade rotors bigtime for the track. im now using hawk dtc-70 pads for the track which are killing these rotors. when the car and i was slower lesser pads/rotors were no issue. i have joined the ranks of "faster" drivers so now i need the really good crap :unamused:

The RS was running ATE Super Blue and EBC Greenstuff pads, front and rear. I liked them a lot, along with the 11.2" WRX rotors up front. This was on slotted Brembo discs. I hope to have the same setup going in spring on the LGT.

Before I left for Georgia I got the newest price guide on Hawk pads so if you're looking for a set just shoot me a pm because I havent had a chance to go through and update the website yet.

I'll hook all you SCSers/NESers up with Hawk pads if you need em. If I get them for cheap, that means you'll get them for cheap because I'm a part buyer just like you all. Keep that in mind.

ATE Superblue is a great fluid, along with its gold Type200 counterpart.

As far as pads:

Axxis Metalmasters - they dusted a lot, and faded quite easily. They are good on street but didn't hold up well Autocrossing.

Hawk HPS - great all around brake pad. Dusting is noticable but not terrible. Once warmed up they are quite responsive and provides good feedback, very modular. I haven't been able to glaze them, but they do start to fade a tiny bit when really heated. Could be fluid boiling. I run these on street year around. Works well in autocross.

Hawk HP+ - Loud... great when heated. Probably wouldn't run these on street. Great towards the end of an autocross or during a HPDE. :p

Can you find ATE superblue locally?

Some places carry it, but primarily those that cater toward the performance category. That being said, sometimes it's just easier to buy online (perhaps both blue and type200 at the same time to save on shipping)

Im all for the hawk pads. I run the HPS on my LGT with stock rotors and calipers and the stopping power is totally different, Especially once you heat them up...I also have stoptech steel braided lines and they are a good product

Hey guys, I need some schoolin' on brakes. I've got a set of ss brakelines and Motul 5.1. What's the best route to go about for installation? Install the lines, bleed the entire system of fluid so that there's none and the bleed through the Motul? I don't mean to sound like an ar-tard but brakes are not my specialty but I know you're not supposed to mix fluids. Thanks guys!

yessir, bleed the system out completely, install the lines, then bleed those lines back to full pressureses!

axis
03-03-2011, 05:47 PM
But is two pints going to be enought to fill the entire system?

Should be enough, I bought 2L to be on the safe side.

No need alex. I say install the lines, then full bleed. done!

Dan, is motul fluid a different color than OE? this is another reason I went with the blue. you know when it's passed all the regular fluid out. :)

Idk, to be honest. I'll have to check tonight. I'm hoping it is so it'll be noticeable when all the old fluid is out.

update?

DHGurs
04-18-2011, 04:57 PM
Changed fluid from Motul RBF600 to ATE Superblue, and there was no noticeable difference. Remember if you use good fluid it must be changed yearly, sometimes more if you push it hard. Many track guys re-bleed it every event or two.

I got some RBF600 going in soon... I'll update with any color differences I notice when I bleed that *****.

Hawk HPS pads worked quite well out on AutoX, but for any good brakes, you'll need teh TIRES!
