a friend of mine has a 95 impreza L with a jdm wrx swap. his clutch is slipping bad since he put on a vf39 w/ supporting mods. this clutch has only been in the car since we swapped the motor 1 year ago and if I remember correctly, its a ACT upgraded oem clutch.

heres the question, could he use a wrx clutch? the part numbers are different so I may have just answered my own question...

but ya, some imput would be great! thanks

the 95 deffinitely has a diff flywheel, the clutch in it is a push type, and only the 02 and early 03 wrx's had that style. even if you had clutch for an 02 wrx I'm not sure it would bolt up.

that is incorrect. all wrx's from 02-05 had a pull type clutch just like all 04+ sti's. in 06 they switched to the regular push style pressure plate.

no wrx clutch, has to be for the type of tranny, like i have a my98 tranny with an act street clutch and a wrx motor, because of the way the clutch/tranny combo works

IIRC 06's also went to a dual mass flywheel.

Justin, I've been looking up the same thing, and what differences I've found are in clutch size, not sure how much that matters though. Here's what I got:

1.8L clutch - 200mm
2.2L & 2.5L - 225mm
2.0L clutch - 228mm

The reason I was looking is because I wanted to put a 2.5rs clutch in as I heard it could hold more lb ft of torque, and as I was planning on turbo...

Definitely let me know what you find out.
