was wondering if you guys more learned on the tuning aspect can take a look at what I have done so far.
I have not yet re-flashed my rom.

yup, stock equal length headers.although i have been looking around borlas lately..
well see. I re-flashed it back to stock for now. going to fiddle with it more in minor incriments and do more logging.
it was sooo bad lol.. down low there was no torque, high end it wasnt bad but it was pretty bumpy. not smooth at all

been on the fence about the UEL... want the sound... not sure about performance loss(maybe it is only marginal) I wanna see some stock 2.5is vs a 2.5i w/ just an UEL.
performance > sound still in my book...
plus i still havent even put that axleback on yet lmao...

Sure, I don't use romraider any more on my car since I got my Hydra, but I know my way around it. Let me know what you need help on. DO you have a WB?
yup, all hooked up and ready to log with raiders of the lost rom. As for tuning, just looking to get a little more out of it. I know it has some left in it, just need to sit down with someone who has done it and can show me the ropes. I'm not very good at picking things up by reading. Show it to me, and i get it, but reading... it's all just blahhhhhhh

I know Murph wants to learn how to tune too, so we should get some people together and tune some cars. That's the best way to learn imo.

Before you ever change a number I would suggest reading a LOT. There are about a billion articles out there.
The Subaru ECU is very easy to tune. Especially since it basically tells you when you are starting to screw up by adjusting certain numbers for you. I forget the name. Learned trim or something is one and another table with adjusted timing.
Really on an N/A the only real gains you are going to see is just leaning the system out to a certain degree. Just take the A/F ratio tables and start to slowly lean them out above the table sections where the A/F ratio is 1 lamda or 14.7/1 The closer to 14.7/1 the more chance of engine knock and/or destruction.
For the full effect of doing this I would suggest 93 octane fuel. As for the car basically being stock leave the ignition timing alone. It should be best now anyway.
I still don't have this software yet and some day want to see the interface.
it's free, go download it. Or i can show it to you some time. I've screwed around a little with it, with some help of crazymikie from nasioc. Very easy to use.

Ya once I get the cash for guages, plx it is! They will even custom make your guage faces for you. A guy I know got his to match the stock STi guages and they are pretty fricken close!

The innovative can log with Romraider, witch makes tuning super easy. I don't know id plx wb can be logged with romraider. If not, trying to match up data logs with separate wb logs is a huge pain.

That makes a lot of sense. Glad we got you for that! I still want plx guages though, maybe the WB will just go innovate.

haha, at least I'm good for something. I know that aem makes a wb that can be logged with romraider too. WB gauges are cool, but they are really useless unless you can log with them. It's almost impossible to make accurate changes to your map without having your wb o2 logged along with atleast your rpm and calculated load and knock.

plx has a logger with all of the gauges, you just need to download the program. With the obd gauge it logs all obd sensors, and then whatever you have plugged in as well, afr, bst egt...etc. I will be logging the vehicle as soon as i get it back for a few days just to make sure its not going to blow up.

or spend tge 250 and get the in car logger

i have a AEM wideband in the car right now. It's not mine, but i have full use of it till whenever. It's worked great so far, but to get it hooked up to a computer, Golfa and Crazymikie had to splice a serial cable into it and now i tink something came loose. I'll have to take it apart and resolder the connections. I'm getting an intermitant -1 reading when it's hooked up. If i wiggle the connection, it comes right back...

That's cool! It's just nice to use one program for tuning and logging. Plus the closed loop tuning tool is awesome!

The LC 1 is what I had. It came with the o2 sensor and the controller. It has everything you need to log and tune with it minus the gauge, for the cool factor.
I have the cable for anyone that needs to use one. You can't get the cable anymore from tactrix, only the new version 2 which is way more expensive.

Funny thing is I was tired last night and after I posted I realized that I could just search the web for 2 seconds and find one.
Or just BORROW one from someone else with a Suby and use it. Although the one person I asked so far said he lent his out and didn't get it back yet.
wagonmafia has mine right now, but your welcome to it when i get it back.

Now i have a question, and i know it has been answered before just not in this thread.
Why does everyone recommend the LC1 wideband? Is it because it can be plugged directly into you laptop and logged?

It's because it can be plugged in to your laptop and logged with romraider, along with the rest of your parameters, and makes tuning a breeze. If you don't log your wb with romraider, it is near impossible to match up your logs to make accurate changes to your map. Romraider can also log AEMs wb too if you want to go that route.

Like Kevin said it is just because it is compatable with romraider.
Most of the widebands on the market use the same bosch sensor and are all really acurate units. I've had an NGK AFX and a PLX devices wideband that I run now. I liked both of them a lot.
Really it comes down to what you need it for. Having a wideband and not datalogging it is useless. So if you are going to log it on romraider than you need to buy one that is compatible with that software.
DSMlink is able to log a ton of different widebands so you can pick which one you like based on price and features.
As far as a gauge goes I don't recommend wasting any money on one you don't need to look at it because you are just going to look at the datalog later and tune from there.
Even since I wired my MAP sensor into DSMlink I don't ever look at the boost gauge any more either. I just tune from the logs and watch the knock light on the dash to make sure things are good.
Also the widebands don't plug in. you have to wire them into the ECU. When we did Kevins he took a whole day off of work and I wired it up in 15 min. with him. :D

Lets set a day to get some people together and do some tuning. As long as people have a wb to log with, we can tune for anything.

if you were asking about getting together to tune, I don't think anyone set anything up yet.
if you were asking about my car....
I had mentioned how they had replaced the one piston. Well they had also done a reflash at the same time... that had only come out like 28 days prior.
Just kinda proves that they still realize its an issue and were working on it.
The reflash fixed the normal complaint of bucking and surging (of which I had plenty), but also seemed to make the car run a bit richer. Gas mileage dropped slightly, and it seems to be running smoother at higher rpm. Feels down on power though.
