Subaru unveiled their diesel specific site last week at BoxorDiesel.com (http://www.boxerdiesel.com/) showcasing their Legacy, Outback, and Forester diesel powered vehicles.

The Impreza model should be on the site soon as it was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show recently (http://wrxfanatics.com/blog/2008/10/unveiled-subaru-boxer-diesels-at-2008-paris-motor-show/).

I've been crying for this move from Subaru for a decade, but I can't see myself participating. $25k+ for a heavy diesel Impreza that'll only return 30-35mpg leaves me a bit bored. Looks too good to be diesel, though:

If they want to get serious about mileage, they need to build a Mazda 2/Honda Fit-sized hatch(R1E-ish, but a bit larger) with the option of the non-turbo EJ20 or this diesel engine. Scraping 4-800 lbs. from the equation would return fabulous mileage and preserve a fun to drive factor that just can't be realized in the new Impreza, regardless of powerplant.

I miss the flat four flyweights of the '80s.
