the 3.0s are H6s , 2005 Outback 3.0R is 3.0L Naturally Aspirated DOHC H6 w/ AVCS & AVLS – 250hp @ 6600rpm – 219lb-ft of torque @ 4200rpm – Available with 5EAT Sportshift ONLY
2008 Legacy 3.0R is supposed to have 245hp and 215tq according to this video... so basically its the Outback 3.0R dropped onto the spec B suspension

so the outback only has the 5EAT sportshift, but will the legacy get a stick with the 3.0L? I can't see why they wouldn't that offer

didn't the Spec B come with SI drive and a stick though? Why wouldn't SOA just use that transmission?

Yes it does, and it did last year as well. Same as the 2.5GT. Since the specs on the 3.0(type)R do not match the 2.5GT/Spec B maybe they think a different crowd is going to be looking into buying the 3.0R ?? An older crowd who wants the Luxury of a 2.5GT without Turbo Lag, but still better than a 2.5i ?? Thats the crowd I would think would want an Auto box.
